Colorado is in recruiting hell, not enough quality athletes in the state and not desirable place for out of state players.

Are you suggesting that those teams can give more $$$ than CU can? Do you know the current salary of those teams' coaches, and MacIntyre's salary?

I went through this list for a possible successor to MacIntyre.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...otball_coaches

Many of these coaches wiki pages has their salary listed but some do not. MacIntyre's was not listed (although this may be because his page is already updated so show he is a former CU head coach), a quick google search showed that MacIntyre's salary over 5 years averaged at $3.25/mil, Josh Heupel's, Rocky Long's, Jason Candle's salries are not listed. Bryan Harsin's salary is listed at $1.35mil

I would think that up to 3x the salary that Harsin is currently making would be a powerful lure away from Boise, and I am not about to believe that Boise is a more desirable place to be than Boulder despite all the success Boise has had over the last 20 years or so.

However, that is where Hawkins came from, and he was god-awful in Boulder, so I am not sure I'd want another Boise head coach.

When Colorado and Nebraska left the Big 8 they lost the ability to recruit in southern states like Texas where the 4 and 5 star players are plentiful. Neither school has been in the National title hunt since. Leaving the Big 8 really hurt Nebraska they were always a top ranked power house team.

WTF? The Big 8? What year do you think this is?

CUís alumni base is in California, which is just as fertile as Texas.

Colorado and Nebraska were original Big 8 schools that were also Big 12 schools and when they left their football programs have gone down hill.

No ****. The Big 8 also hasnít existed for over 2 decades. CU won the Big XII and were competitive under Barnett for years in that conference.

It could have and should have been Mike Leach in Boulder.

I'd gp for the Boise State guy. He can recruit and develop QBs.

So, with that in mind, I hope the Buffs go after any of the following Josh Heupel (Central Florida 10-0), Mike Norvell (Memphis 25-12), Lane Kiffin (Florida Atlantic 16-9), Skip Holtz (Louisiana Tech 45-32, 133-103 overall), Doc Holliday (Marshall 68-45), Bobby Wilder (Old Dominion 76-44), Bill Clark (Alabama-Birmingham 23-13), Rod Carey (Northern Illinois 51-28), Jason Candle (Toledo 27-12), Bryan Harsin (Boise St 51-14), Rocky Long (San Diego State 71-33), Matt Wells (Utah State 44-33), Scott Satterfield (Appalachian St 49-24), Blake Anderson (Arkansas State 38-24), Neal Brown (Troy 34-15).

I am not saying I would like all of these coaches and their coaching styles, but I would rather go with a head coach who has had success in that position and has shown he can recruit, than go with some assistant somewhere.

Looking at this list earlier I made, the ones that jump out biggest to me are Josh Heupel (I know, only 1 season, but I have a feeling he is headed for big time success), Bobby Wilder, Rod Carey, Scott Satterfield. But... if the Buffs do not go the coordinator route, you would think any of these names will be considered... if.... any of these coaches would be willing to leave their current schools.

Please do NOT promote from within.

Youíre missing the point, CU had a larger recruiting base when they played in the Big 8 and Big 12. They can no longer recruit enough quality athletes to compete on a national level.

What does CU have to offer that would attract a top tier coach? Les Miles is a has been and he picked Kansas over CU.

Rick George s said to be set on a recognizable name who has hc experience.

Dino babers and Dana holgorsen are names I've seen dropped that would be ideal Imo.

Realistically, I could see someone more like the Utah St hc or Jim leavitt.

George and the admin have shown a renewed commitment to the program and an ability to raise booster money so I'm optimistic

Dana Holgorsen is currently at West Virginia with a 61-39 record and the Mountaineers are currently 8-2. Holgorsen had a salary of 3.5mil in 2017.

I can't imagine he would leave West Virginia for Colorado. Why make a sideways move to a program that has consistently had losing seasons for most of the last 15 years?

Being mentioned is Chicago Bears OC Mark Helfrich. I am not sure how I feel about that.

Yep. Nobody gives a **** about CU and top recruits don't want to come there.

I would go for UCF's Heupel.
