It's definitely not good, but I wouldn't say he embarrassed himself. There's plenty of guys with stat lines like this in the lower minors.

I think he held his own considering:

1. He hadn't played in 12 years.
2. His development schedule was extremely aggressive. A first-year pro player with no college experience rarely ever plays at the high Single-A level. But he's old, so the Mets have no choice but to accelerate Tebow, but it lessens the chances he will make it.
They left out some spring ball and he was really bad fielding. In this spring alone he was 1-18 with 11 K's. He should not have been taking a spot of real prospects but he did what he was supposed to do. Put revenue in the stands.

That's the problem with the whole deal, are the Mets interested in Tebow developing into a decent player or making money off a side show?

The latter seems to be the case. Yes, he has no business playing against major league, Triple-A quality, even Double-A players.

My whole argument he deserved the shot in the low minors because he was a good athlete and he didn't totally embarrass himself down there. If the Mets move him up to Double-A this year, it's not going to be pretty.

Tim Tebow hit a three-run homer in his first at-bat at Double-A Binghamton.

My all-time favorite baseball player, Will Clark did that......against Nolan Ryan.

Only true dullards and political goofs are rooting against Tebow anymore. Get over it already.

I agree, I just rather see him get there on merit instead of a publicity stunt, which is what it is. It's pretty cool, and already a cool athletic feat, that he's made the transition this late in his career, but he's not much of a baseball player.

He just like's cashing in on the fans that have blinders for him. Great kid but just look how his spring training went. It was horrific and that is why this thread was never bumped. It's funny every time he hits a HR one of the Tebowners bump it. They always fail to mention how awful he has been overall and he is a bull in a china shop playing defense.

I think Tebow is eventually going to be a September call up when rosters expand to 40. The Mets can make it work in that scenario, especially if they have guys on the DL.
