You obviously have not been following their management public comments on the contract status of Wilson. Perhaps it is posturing, but if they let Wilson walk, with an aging Lynch, good luck.

If by "this day" you mean that they'd have to pay Wilson a lot of money then yes. If by "this day" you mean they knew Cam Newton would get a contract before they got one done with Wilson, and that he'd get $100 million, I'm not certain.

Gotta love a world where a QB with one playoff win in 4 years and mediocre at best stats......in a league that has killed itself to inflate QB numbers....can command $100 mil.

NFL is actually pretty good at keeping sub standard talent from getting into the high contract stratosphere. Could be worse. Like NBA joe Johnson 119M, or MLB pujols 240M. There's def more headscratching contracts in those 2 leagues.

True, MLB and NBA clearly lead the way in bad monster contracts, but the NFL signs plenty of them too (J. Russell, A. Haynesworth, etc). They just don't look as bad because they aren't fully guaranteed and can be dropped with little to no penalty.

Seahawks will be fine. Of course they will lose some players like every other team, but their core will be there.

They have $42 million in cap space next spring and their draft was obviously to replace players.
They have an elite GM.

They'll be fine and will still be a top 5 team.

Happy for Cam. He is a good player and does a lot for that team. Their OL and skill positions have been a dumpster fire, but he has some big targets and receivers to toss the ball to now. Funchess and Benjamin are enormous targets for him and are going to be match up nightmares.

The Tannehill contract looks very good for Miami.

Exactly my thoughts. Cam is not worth that kind of money and that contract basically means the Panthers will never be a contender with him as their QB since he is now eating far too much cap for what he offers a team. They basically just pulled a Chicago.

Cam is worth it. Good young QB. Will be interesting to see him playing with more protection and weapons.

That team has been decimated by injuries on the OL, let go of all their damn receivers last year and lost guys on defense. It was hard to overcome. That team always gives Seattle a pretty good fight. Cam gets a lot of hate. He needs to improve his accuracy and a few other things, but now he has some legit guys on the roster.

Benjamin and Funchess at 6'5, 235 are going to be forces.

The still have some holes, but they should be contenders in two years.

Funchess worries me with his hands but combining him with Olsen and Benjamin will be a lethal combination.

I don't think Wilson is an elite QB and $20 mil/year seems like too much but he's still a pretty damn good quarterback and that's just the market value of a QB who has been that successful.

The Cam Newton deal is terrible though. I'd hate to be one of those teams that almost forced to re-sign a middle of the road type quarterback who is going to command overpaid contracts (like Alex Smith, Cutler or Flacco). You either suck it up and sign the bad contract or you roll the dice of possibly becoming a bottom of the barrel team for and desperately trying to find a quarterback for years and years.

If the cap hits $150M, then $20M is only about 13% of your total cap, that's not bad without looking up the historical average.

Adrian Peterson tells ESPN he's reporting to OTAs. His contract remains as is. We'll see if anything changes later: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/25202533/adrian-peterson-returning-to-vikings-otas-4-things-to-know
