Default Dems flip strong Repub seat in Wisconsin

oh 2018 is going to be a massacre

Democrats Score Special Election Upset In Wisconsin GOP Stronghold

Democrat Patty Schachtner won a special election for a state Senate seat in Wisconsin on Tuesday, scoring a huge upset victory for her party in a district that President Donald Trump handily captured just over a year ago.

It was the latest in a string of election victories for Democrats since Trump took office, and a sign of hope for the party that the energy from the base and frustration with the president could lead to more wins in November.

With every precinct counted, The Washington Post reported that Schachtner, the chief medical examiner for St. Croix County, won by 9 percentage points.

Republican Sheila Harsdorf had held the seat since 2001, but she left in November to become Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s agriculture secretary. In 2016, Harsdorf won re-election by 26 percentage points, and Trump beat Democratic rival Hillary Clinton by 17 points. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney won the district in 2012.

They fear his base of morons and racists, but they don't realize that enough of that group has grown discontent that they won't see the same level of turnout this next time. It's going to be a blue tidal wave.

Repubs in trouble in another stronghold....... But now they are pouring millions into a congresional seat to stop the Dems. Along with Trump and Pence campaign stops.

Trump Is Scrambling To Avoid A Special Election Defeat In This Rust Belt District

Democrat Conor Lamb is hoping for victory in a union-heavy district that Trump won by 20 points.

Earlier this month, the deep-pocketed Congressional Leadership Fund, a GOP super PAC affiliated with House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), announced the opening of a field office in the district. The operation will include 50 full-time door knockers who aim to make 250,000 voter contacts, the super PAC said.

Republican outside groups are also on the airwaves ahead of either candidate. Ending Spending Inc., a super PAC backed by the billionaire Ricketts family, made a $1 million ad buy in support of Saccone. And the pro-Trump 45Committee is spending $500,000 on ads, including a 30-second spot released last week that hits “Liberal Conor Lamb” for opposing Trump’s tax cut bill.

In addition, Vice President Mike Pence is slated to campaign for Saccone. The Republican National Committee has a permanent field office in Western Pennsylvania that is helping to turn out GOP voters, and the super PAC America Rising has been sending a video tracker to all of Lamb’s campaign events.

Trump's problem goes far beyond the big, Democratic coastal states.

As Trump's first year in office ends, his support base has eroded and the opposition is energized

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-n...119-story.html

Donald Trump began his presidency a polarizing figure; he ends his first year a beleaguered one.

As the anniversary of Trump’s inauguration approaches on Saturday, the president’s support has eroded, his opposition has gained energy and his party faces bleak prospects for the midterm elections in November, according to a new USC-Dornsife/Los Angeles Times nationwide poll.

Just under one-third of those polled, 32%, approved of Trump’s job performance, compared with 55% who disapproved and 12% who were neutral. That 23-point deficit represents a significant decline since April and the last USC/L.A. Times national poll, which found Trump with a 7-point approval deficit, 40% to 47%.

Well it happened again. The Dems flipped another seat. Another female winning..... Females are going to kick ass this year. The GOP better start finding some female candidates to run in 2018.

Democrats flip 36th state House seat since Trump's inauguration in Florida special election

Democrat Margaret Good won the special election for Florida's state House District 72, flipping yet another legislative seat previously held by a Republican.

Good, who ran against Republican candidate James Buchanan, won by a 52-45 margin. The seat is the 36th flip since Trump assumed office.

Buchanan’s father, Vern Buchanan, is a Republican member of Congress and represents the area. He also owns several car dealerships in the region.

In the 2016 election, President Trump won the district by a five-point margin.

The seat became available after Republican Alex Miller stepped down in order to devote more time to her family and business.

2 signs Senate Republicans are starting to get nervous about the midterms

Chris Cillizza
By Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large

Updated 8:50 PM ET, Tue February 13, 2018

There are signs in just the last 48 hours that Senate GOP strategists are growing increasingly nervous about their chances of holding the majority.

1. In North Dakota, Republicans are desperately trying to change Rep. Kevin Cramer's mind about challenging Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, a Democrat, in November, according to the Washington Examiner's David Drucker. Kramer decided against the race in January but Republicans have grown increasingly concerned about the remaining candidates in the race -- state Sen. Tom Campbell in particular -- and their ability to beat Heitkamp.

2. Some Republicans are pressuring Sen. Bob Corker to re-consider his decision to retire at the end of the 115th Congress -- as first reported by CNN. Corker has been silent about the speculation since the news broke over the weekend, meaning that he almost certainly is thinking twice about his previous decision. (If Corker wasn't reconsidering, he could shut down all speculation with a simple "No" to any of the scads of reporters asking him if he is reconsidering.)

It's a Catch 22 for House Repukes:

Unless they find a way to distance themselves from the Reality TV Bozo, they're all but guaranteed a major shellacking in November.

However, many of these same GOP handjobs have no choice but to continue to protect Putin's b**** insofar as they can't afford to have their own shady dealings with Russia exposed.

You could expect the Dems maybe make inroads in the midterms but kicking ass this far out in these special elections is surprising. The simple fact is if liberals vote we win b/c there are far more of us than them.

Unfortunately, we are also facing a stacked deck due to gerrymandering, so even if we come out in droves, we won't be rewarded accordingly. None-the-less, we will be compensated at least in part, and if that turns out to be enough, we need to make reversing their tactics priority #1. That doesn't mean copying their ethics and stacking the deck in our favor, because ultimately voters will see through this and relegate us to the same status they view these scumbags in. Instead we need to follow what Obama said, produce fair districts which can survive any court challenge, and THEN we will win when we come out to vote due to our numerical superiority, if for no other reason.

At the end of the day, they fascists are facing a long game they know they can't win, which is why they resort to the tactics they have.

Uh...actually it's because you're too stupid to understand that it does. Despite your feeble attempt to convince us that you're not 100% on board with little Adolph and his GOP Putin puppets, we know better, Mr. "I don't have a side".

ANYBODY is better than what we have now, and the only way to stop the madman, is to vote his Congressional henchmen out of office. Or do you think that we can't improve on having an insane criminal in the WH and that's just the best we can do?

No stupid, that's not how it works.

Perhaps you've suffered some more debilitating effects than you imagine from your chronic drug use.

Thats exactly how it works.

Maybe if you did some drugs you would wake yourself up outta your slumber of hatred, and realize how the DNC and GOP dont really care who is in power, as long as it is red or blue.

I want Trump to stay in office and run for re-election in 2020. After 2020 election Despite the Gerrymandered districts the Dems will own both houses then they will be in charge or redistricting in 2020.

Gee, I guess that explains why you devote all your time and energy on this board to attacking Democrats and defending Republicans, Mr. "I Don't Have A Side."

When Tiki Torch Boy thinks about the political system he looks at the US flag and he sees three colors, red for the GOP, blue for the Dems, and then he sees WHITE as representing his third party choice, as in "white nationalist", ie; nazis, ethno-state freaks, white power crazies and KKK type inbreds such as himself.

That's his "3rd party" solution.
