Default 2018 Colorado Rockies

Ok.. Let's get this thread fired up.

18 games in, the Rockies are 10-8, pretty good considering they have played 12 of games on the road so far.

I love baseball. It is so much more enjoyable when the Rockies are pretty good.

Hopefully this thread never gets killed.... as doing so would mean that things have gone bad for the team at some point.

They’ve won four out of five on a trip that typically kills them. They’ve played much better since the brawl.

The run differential is a little concerning so far. We have won some close games, but have bad loses. The good news is we are winning the close games so far. Once Nolan gets back and heats we will be a little better off, but we still need offense from one more spot. We can't have just Chuck, DJ and Nolan. Desmond, Story, Parra/Cargo, someone else needs to be a threat at the plate. Although Netta has been a pleasant addition (re-addition?) so far

I don't see Ianneta sustaining. I wish we had kept Lucroy. Younger, and he had a solid .310 BA a phenominal .429 OBP when he joined us. All of which are better than anything Ianneta has ever put up in his career. Now Lucroy is wasting away in Oakland.

I agree about their offense. I also agree about doubting Iannetta will sustain. I highly doubt that Story and Cargo will be allowed to unproductive for so long like last year. However, Cargo has had some timely hits this year, but there is no way he'll be allowed to continue his current .237 average long into the season. Story plays everyday mainly because of his defense, but his defense is not enough.

Ian Desmond was not as bad as a lot of people suggested last year, he hit .274, but only 7 homers, that was disappointing. He already has 7 homers this year, I fully expect he'll get his average up, I expect him to hit about .290 for the year.

Also their bench has been awful. Valaika has really struggled, McMahan has been horrible and Tauchman looks like he doesn't belong on a MLB roster.

Are they any good this year?

Should I buy a bandwagon hat and support them?

Slow down there ... it's just April. You got plenty of time. Back in 2007, most of us didn't jump on til mid-September.

As you can see, it was an ornate bandwagon ... and it served us well, at least until the Red Sox swept us in the World Series. I mean ... until the Red Sox swept "them" in the Series..

Even with loss today vs Pirates, a very successful 5-2 road trip. Before it started, I would have been happy with a 3-4 record, especially once it was announced that Arenado would serve his 5 game suspension.

Now let’s play as well at home as we have on the road!

Would the Rockies be better if they had John gray hit for Ryan McMahon and Ryan McMahon pitch for John gray?

Very disappointed with John Gray.

He's just another of several young overhyped arms that have come up through the farm over the years and underperform and underwhelm considering the hype.

Actually, he's not underperforming, he sucks. I am not saying that I give up on him or saying that he won't eventually be good (likely with another team). But right now, HE SUCKS.

good to see Dahl getting recalled. would like to see Tapia recalled at some point as well. i did not understand sending either of those guys to AAA and keeping Tauchman in the big leagues to begin the season.

Both had "options" and the way Bud Black had been determined to get Gerardo Parra his starts in the early going, Tapia and Dahl would have been rotting on the bench. Ryan McMahon can't get into a rhythm because the Rockies have used him in some odd bench role. Until injuries force the Rockies' hand like now, I would rather see Dahl and Tapia get their at-bats than ride the pine in Denver. Dahl especially since 2017 was a wasted year for him.

What a ****ing bull**** ending to that game.

Unless New York had an angle that ATT Sportsnet didn't have, (I'd sure like to see it), I don't see how they can end a game like that. That was Patriots-esque.

Call was safe on the field. I don't see how that call was reversed as there didn't seem to be any conclusive replay showing him out.

Rockies place Chris Rusin on 10 day DL.

Rockies call up Harrison Musgrave, a career 4.02 minor league era. Musgrave so far this year, had 3.38 era over 10 2/3 innings over 4 games in AAA Albuquerque.

Musgrave has 1-2-3 6th inning in Major League debut to hold onto 5-4 lead.

Our bullpen is going to be completely done by the All-Star break, if our rotation doesn't start getting their crap together.

Senzatela needs to go back down to the minors too. He's totally lost his confidence and needs a reboot.
