The Republican budget plan, with its efforts to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, is not just immoral and bad economic policy. It violates numerous promises that Donald Trump made to the American people during his campaign — promises that he repeated again and again. Donald Trump made it a central part of his campaign that he would not cut these essential programs. He asked millions of working class and elderly people to vote for him on that promise, and they did. Trump now has a choice: He can tell the American people that these campaign promises were lies. Or he can instruct his Republican colleagues to end their efforts to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and inform them that if they don’t, he will veto any bills that cut those life-and-death programs.

L0L. What a bull**** artist this clown is.

Trump Just Bragged About Chrysler’s New U.S. Plant. Chrysler’s Response Is Perfect

Donald Trump’s continuous attempts to portray himself as a magical job-creator continue unabated. Today, he took to Twitter to announce that Fiat Chrysler was going to be creating jobs in the United States, implying that he was responsible for this decision.
Quote:
It's finally happening – Fiat Chrysler just announced plans to invest $1BILLION in Michigan and Ohio plants, adding 2000 jobs. This after…
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 9, 2017
Of course, as usual, Trump had absolutely nothing to do with this. “This plan was in the works back in 2015. This announcement…was just final confirmation” said Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) spokeswoman Jodi Tinson to ThinkProgress’s Bryce Covert. She confirmed that politics and the election had nothing to do with the announcement.

In September 2015, FCA announced a $5.3 billion investment in the United States over the next four years as a part of its agreement with the United Automobile Workers union. The plan was for “$3.4 billion invested in assembly plants, $1.5 billion at engine and transmission plants, $315 million at stamping plants and $34 million at Mopar parts distribution plants.”

So in reality, we can thank organized labor and the hard-working men and women of America’s factories for this investment – not the disruptive bullying and empty threats of a con man.

Trump has previously sent GM and Toyota stocks freefalling with his vague threats to impose a “big border tax!” on them if they don’t build factories in the United States, and is taking credit for deals made long before his election – like Japanese conglomerate SoftBank’s $50 billion investment.

And at Carrier, those jobs that Trump "saved" are due to be replaced by automation.

Trump says he's going to build a wall to keep out the robots!

Just never heard you try to pin blame for automation on an administration before. Truth be told, though, a Democrat's been in office the whole time I've known you so I'm sure a whole new world is approaching.

Jobs are being automated everywhere, Roh. Nobody asked your guy during the "Saved or Created" days whether any of those would be automated sometime soon. Undoubtedly many were.

Gee. That would mean that "building a wall" is meaningless.

Trump has been taking credit for all this "job creation" and he isn't even POTUS yet, and Trumpettes have been crowing about it. Pretending the same thing has gone on with Obama doesn't make it so.

Obama absolutely took credit for things (including jobs) that had nothing to do with him.

I don't like it either. Never have. Similar to what I've said repeatedly, have a sun set in the West and there'll be a politician there to take credit. But it's politics 101 at this point. Try not to mark it as some kind of huge distinction.

I agree, I'm just saying it wasn't remotely of the magnitude of what we're seeing with Trump. It has been perhaps the major story of his hasn't-even-started-yet presidency. Big news stories and tweets galore. I don't think you can compare this with any of Obama's claims.

Everything's going to be bigger with Trump. In a lot of bad ways.

But again... "Saved or Created" was a nationwide marketing gimmick.

Report: Obama takes credit for Bush-era wind farm jobs

At the end of the day he'll be judged on the overall economy (which in and of itself is not the best idea in the world) But that's just the way it is. Politics is the game of perceptions making reality.

Nope.

However, given his compulsion to defend Don the Con and save GOP face, he'll certainly try as hard as he can.
