![]() In today’s news about the ongoing anthropogenic mass extinction, the global population of insects are plummeting:
“More than 40% of insect species are declining and a third are endangered, the analysis found. The rate of extinction is eight times faster than that of mammals, birds and reptiles. The total mass of insects is falling by a precipitous 2.5% a year, according to the best data available, suggesting they could vanish within a century.” https://www.theguardian.com/environm...apse-of-nature Wonder what is going to get us first: climate overheating or global food chain collapse Last edited by Pontius Pirate; 02-12-2019 at 08:27 AM.. |

![]() Now all we need is for some stupid R senator to go into session and hold an insect in his hand and say, hey look, there's no decline, I'm holding an insect in my hand right now.

![]() This is probably the biggest topic (things that are related to the natural environment, weather, animals, plants, etc) where Republicans on this forum, and in general, truly show their ignorance or lack of giving these problems the credit and attention they deserve. If they are truly ignorant, they just don't believe there's any problems at all, that all the plastic in the ocean isn't a problem, the melting caps, the loss of natural habitat, the dwindling numbers, etc. And if they are smart enough to know these things are truly a problem, then they usually just play stupid for the sake of towing the party line and/or would never agree on these things as it would make it seem as if they are taking a favorable progressive position on the issue.

![]() But if we don't let companies build their factories on endangered habitats the economy will turn to shambles.
