I just listened to his interview with 760. He isn't a complete DB, but it is fair to say that he doesn't like Denver. Too many rules, . At the same time, Colorado just isn't for some people. Too white, too restricted, and if you aren't into outdoor activities, too boring.

I think he actually says "base defense", but still...

LoL yeah that was awesome. I am appreciating him more these days. Except for those first few years in the league when the Chargers were stacked (and they really should have won it all in 06), that team has been routinely cursed by injuries to key players.

Rivers is awesome. Many other QBs would have been shell shocked retired by now playing behind sh*tty OLs all those years.

He got a bad rap from Bronco fans early because obviously he is a rival, dominated Denver for awhile and most importantly BULLIED whittle mental midget Jay Cutler

I think the Raiders will be a pretty solid team within 3 or 4 years. It's obvious Gruden was hired to dismantle and rebuild the team. They have loads of picks next year (I think 11), and multiple firsts over two years. They'll need a year to get it all together, but by the 4th year (2nd year in Vegas?), they should start being competitive I think.

Unless Gruden blows it. =)

The raiders are going to pick Bosa number 1 and then get a couple of extra 1st rounders. I'd go defense with all . They could have a good defense after this draft.

I disagree. Gruden had some success with the Raiders back at the beginning of the 2000's but then went to Tampa and got a SB win with Dungy's team and Monte Kiffin against a team he knew very well. Then out of the next 6, went to the playoffs twice, once with a 9-7 team, lost in the WC both time, and otherwise looked like the TB of now for the other years.

He's too offensive minded. Despite Mark Davis saying Gruden had nothing to do with getting rid of Mack, I'm not buying it. I expect his teams to look very ordinary and have little to no achievement.

He had no plan to dismantle anything. They spent like 60 million on veteran contracts this offseason to fill the roster up to "win" now. you don't sign a bunch of 32 year old vets for big money when you are "planning" to dismantle the team.

You don't preseason trade Khalil Mack for future draft picks to "win now"

I guess devil's advocate, he brought in the vets to set a certain culture to build off of.

I think he's washed up, so it probably won't work. But he's definitely setting up a complete rebuild. At no point this season was he in "win now" mode.

Aside from Bellichick, I don't think any coach in the league should be the guy with the final responsibility on players.

The Coach should have a philosophy that the FO is on board with, but the FO should make personnel decisions and the coach needs to be flexible and make the best of what he has. Too many coaches think they need the perfect concrete mix to make their scheme work and historically, that's just not true minus a few notable exceptions.
