Now in a more supernatural/heroic setting this may not be a problem. But that's not a general feel that's consistent with how most characters or weapons function in GoT. Most take on a much more realistic touch than this homage to the legendary.
Yet Beric is getting ready to set his sword on fire again with his "magic." Similar to how Jon and Beric we're both revived using "magic" (Lord of Light) by Melisandre and Thoros, respectively. That debunks the fact that the show is not set in a "supernatural/heroic setting."

1) Thousands of years, still no electricity.
2) Bronn can swim with Jamie both in full armor
3) Dothraki Jet Boats get back to Dragonstone before Denarys on Drogon
4) Gilly is the first person to find out Rhaegar got an annulment

Obviously there are magical elements in the show. But they should never be a backstop to every unexplained disconnect. It cheapens the mystery.

A smallish average-joe bastard blacksmith suddenly wielding Doomhammer because it gives some inner adolescents a chub deserves at least a little fun poked.

What makes you think the Dothraki got back before Dany? Isn't it possible some of them stayed on Dragonstone, or that some of them left while Dany was wrapping up and holding court after the battle?

The electricity comment, I don't even know where to begin--would it be a better fantasy story if there was electricity? Furthermore, there's a pretty good implicit explanation of their non-advancement; every few years a several year winter comes along and wipes a bunch of people out, and apparently every few thousand years the long night and others come and really mess things up.

Lol at all the whining about a show that's based on fantasy novels.

I know I am guilty but it always cracks me up. Out of everything that happens in a fantasy-based world. There is always some "there is no way" thing lol.

I will admit, last episode I thought why doesn't Dany ride a couple dragons across the wall, check out the walkers and just torch most of them real quick?

Just wait and see what happens when she does fly a Dragon to where they are at. Come and see.

Obviously flanking these guys should be a breeze. Not sure what Jon's worried about.
Unless they're at Hardholme, in which case they're super fast and agile, and move like World War Z.

I'm much more interested about the actual game of thrones than I am the white walker/army of the dead storylines.

I mean there's only two ways that story can go. Either Dany brings the dragons and cooks them or everyone dies.

It's as tall as the Wall and also made out of ice. I hope you have good lungs.

People usually come to a show (or book) with depth because they actually want something to think about.

Having it all undone because deadlines can feel like a bad return on a lot of investment.

I'm not saying they've gone that far. But they need to tread very carefully.

Another oddity is how the southern kingdoms treat the wall and the "wildlings".

Snow drops the term "Hardhome" around like everyone should know of it and it's location. This would imply that people are well educated in geography and that Hardhome itself is significant enough for those educated to know where it is and the importance of it.

This would then imply that if "wildlings" can have a city they also have a society and are at least respected as such. They are described as raiders so assume that culturally people think of them similarly to vikings? Do the 7 kingdoms believe that a wall of such significance was built purely to hold off vikings and giants?

It just seems odd the softness in the logic this show has.

A) There is a wall that exists that is the greatest man made structure of all time
B) They know by default the wall must be guarded at all times yet they send their theives and rapists yet to don't fully staff it.
C) They have heard legends of white walkers associated with winter and winter is here. Yet all anybody seems to care about is a throne/crown and maybe all they actually fear are wild lings.

The real point to squabble over is if that stag helm is even remotely feasible when the wearer is wielding an overhead weapon...
