Paul Tudor Jones warns the next recession will be 'really frightening'

Legendary global macro trader Paul Tudor Jones is warning that asset prices are too high. And furthermore, he’s concerned about what the next recession might look like. He shared his thoughts on Monday during a conversation with Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein as part of the firm’s “Talks at GS” series.

The hedge fund billionaire, who rarely gives interviews or makes public comments on the markets, cautioned that across asset classes “you have to be thinking this is a highly dubious sustainable price.”

Jones doesn’t think the low interest rates we have now due to easy monetary policy are sustainable over time. He said that interest rate policy is “crazy.” He further argued that the Trump administration’s stimulative fiscal policy isn’t sustainable either.

“You look at prices of stocks, real estate, anything,” he said. “We’re going to have to mean revert to a normal real rate of interest with a normal term premium that’s existed for 250 years. We’re going to have to get back to that. We’re going to have to get back to a sustainable fiscal policy and that probably means the price of assets goes down in the very long run.” ...

Like I keep pointing out: In 2007, the derivatives exposure was about $700 billion. Now, it's about $1.4 quadrillion. Do the math. At those numbers, nobody is getting bailed out.

Shysters like Jones and Blankfein laugh all the way to the bank while they short the chit out of the mess they helped create.

The ruination was set in motion years ago, and the bill from the late 2000's downturn was never paid. Just put into deferment/forebearance.

The central banks can't borrow, ZIRP, or print their way out of this one.

The irony here is that the pinheads who voted for these grifters and thieves will be hit the hardest...

... Let us count our blessings: Every year, the federal government doles out tax expenditures through deductions for retirement savings (worth $137 billion in 2013); employer-sponsored health plans ($250 billion); mortgage-interest payments ($70 billion); and, sweetest of all, income from watching the value of your home, stock portfolio, and private-equity partnerships grow ($161 billion). In total, federal tax expenditures exceeded $900 billion in 2013. That’s more than the cost of Medicare, more than the cost of Medicaid, more than the cost of all other federal safety-net programs put together. And—such is the beauty of the system—51 percent of those handouts went to the top quintile of earners, and 39 percent to the top decile.

The best thing about this program of reverse taxation, as far as the 9.9 percent are concerned, is that the bottom 90 percent haven’t got a clue. ...

The economy is rolling just fine.

We saw 8 years of ****. Obama and his stupid magic wand comment about trump in 2016 to bring back jobs just looks pathetic. He couldn’t sniff the GDP percentage of today.

President Obama was handed a collapsing economy. Rump was handed a booming one -- thanks to Obama.

But wait until Rump's stupid, unnecessary trade wars sink in. Bye-bye rising GDP.

He exceeded the 2017 GDP growth rate twice, despite starting from a negative growth rate handed him by the collapse of Wall Street under Bush.

GDP Growth Rate:

2014- 2.6%
2015- 2.9%

2017- 2.3%

GDP growth is only one measure of a healthy economy, and this one is going to tank down the road.

Baby boomer here. Have never voted GOP, have no problem with the federal SS tax, but am furious over the state tax which is 100% over the fed tax and the money I get for SS has already been a tax I've paid over 30 years. The Medicare issue is where the boomers who cry over it not covering everything is shameful. And a lot who get Medicare never paid into it. But I'm confused about the bankrupting the treasury.....because of the size of our generation? Please explain.

TRUMP: "Wages for working people are finally, after 22 years, rising again in our country." — remarks Tuesday.

THE FACTS: Wages, before adjusting for inflation, have ticked up in recent months. But so has inflation, which is offsetting those gains. In May, average hourly pay rose 2.7 percent from a year earlier. Yet inflation rose slightly more during that time: 2.8 percent. Household incomes rose at a solid pace in 2015 and 2016, according to the Census Bureau, partly because inflation was much lower during that time.

17% drop in soy bean prices in last month since Trump's trade "policies" started. Wait till small business start going belly up because they can not afford steel and other manufacturing goods.

And the layoffs begin. THAT'S when the **** hits the fan. When all those newly unemployed people discover what Ryan and his pals in the GOP have been doing to food stamps and unemployment while nobody was looking.

Arnold Schwarzenegger mocks Trump on coal, asks if he'll bring back Blockbuster next

Saba Hamedy
By Saba Hamedy, CNN

Updated 2103 GMT (0503 HKT) June 28, 2018

"The Terminator" has a message for President Donald Trump: Don't go back in time to "rescue the coal industry."

In a video uploaded to Facebook by media company ATTN: on Thursday, former California Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger references a popular movie role he played to mock what he describes as efforts to "save an industry that is poisoning the environment."

"So President Trump, I know you really want to be an action hero, right?" Schwarzenegger says, while looking at a Trump bobblehead. "So take it from the Terminator, you're only supposed to go back in time to protect future generations. But your administration attempts to go back in time to rescue the coal industry, which is actually a threat to future generations."
He then compares Trump's attempt to "rescue the coal industry" to rescuing other relics from America's past.

"It is foolish to bring back laughable, outdated technology to suit your political agenda," Schwarzenegger says. "I mean, what are you going to bring back next? Floppy disks? Fax machines? Beanie Babies? Beepers? Or Blockbuster? Think about it. What if you tried to save Blockbuster?"
