Default Pulling Von from the Game question ?

He jumped 3 times off sides which is really bad. I get that but do you still pull the best player on the team and sit him ?

I just don't know how great of an idea that was. Your thoughts ?

When you're down big, you start to gamble.

I wouldn't do a ****ing thing to mess with the master's mindset.

He jumps because he knows the only chance they have given the ineptitude of the offense is to make a play on defense.

It wasn't like he pulled him for long. Nothing wrong with taking a guy out for a few plays and get him to reset.

Don't get me wrong here. I would never bench Von especially when we are inside the 20.

He didn't come in until the next defensive set after they scored the TD

He is trying his best to make a play in that situation.

I think it was said that they changed the snap count and that Von must not have gotten it. I believe he was pulled so he could be told this. Not saying Von isn't smart enough to figure it out, but I just think he was trying so hard to make a play that maybe it just didn't register with him until he was pulled and told.

I'm not buying that. VJ was all up in his **** when he came out.

No way it didn't register. The guy was trying to win a game we had no other hope of winning. It's sad our D has to play with that mindset, but I don't fault them for realizing what we all saw in our offense with our own eyes.

Yeah, I believe all up in his shlt about how the snap count changed. Hell the announcers noticed it, and Von kept jumping on the same count. He never jumped on a different count.

Von was getting desperate. A play needed to be made, and he was trying to make it. SF used that to their advantage and made him jump like he did.

That’s not why we’ve lost.
That’s what he does and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, I suspect it works for him more often than not...

That's what smart teams do when they know defenses have to gamble.

Still doesn't mean you should quit gambling.

You can expect your highest paid players, to make plays, lead, and be disciplined. It's not one or the other. We continue to commit infractions at a ridiculous level, many on defense.

-7 yards for a sack doesn't /= +15 on 3 offsides penalties. Lazy and ridiculous.

I fail to see how trying to jump the count in an absolutely desperate situation is "lazy"

If you don't hold Von accountable you can't hold anybody. My guess is Von would say he screwed up and should have been on the sideline.

He was probably thinking I'm going to have to win this game/ change this game in a fundamental way..

I can live with the gambles, this team was done if they didn't win... and they didn't..

VJ was making decisions yesterday that reflected “what a HC who knows he’s fired at seasons end if he loses this game” would do.

Going for it several times. Up in Vons face. Shaking his head and whining/crying more than he usually does.

He’s gone.

I hope so BUT, if he finishes 8-8 and the guys that Elway likes are not available / won't agreed to take job, I bet he is retained.

Like With Kubiak, i think Elway has a short list of candidates and everything else is means to getting to one of them.

Who holds VJ accountable for his consistent mental mistakes? That is a huge problem for this team I think.

As for Von jumping offside, he did it too many times in this game. But the truth is that part of his art is jumping the snap, and I will take a penalty here and there to get the advantage he gets on many plays.

If I'm the coach I never pull Von unless he's winded or hurt.
