And they still are gonna move Quintana, too who should fetch a damn good return.

I wanted Robles, tho.

I need Jansen or Chapman to hurry up and sign with the Yankees. Reportedly we are discussing Robertson with the Sox if neither signs...I'm scared

Reynaldo Lopez alone would have been sufficient return for Adam Eaton, whose value is primarily in his right-field defense, which rivaled Jason Heyward in 2016 for the second-best in baseball.

@GREEDYSoCal
Victor Robles has uncanny bat-to-ball skills, can straight up fly and play stellar defense. One of the rare players with three grade 70 tools.

Bring me the savage Gary Sanchez, Brother Scribe.

Hand him over already, dammit. What's the holdup, Cashman?

I like Desmond's versatility and athleticism, he will age well in that regard. He's only getting paid roughly $12 million AAV.

On the flip side, Desmond had a 104 OPS-plus in his "bounce back" 2016 and he's just two years removed from a rotten .233/.290/.384 batting line and a 187 K/45 BB season. However, Coors Field will mask some of this.

My preference for the Rockies would have been Edwin Encarnacion, but he might have priced himself out of what Colorado was willing to pay.

They are indeed a contender. I also feel the traditional stats because of Coors hide the true value and ability of Jon Gray. He's the real deal.

I think Cashman might be more than a bit Shook with the Sale trade strengthening Boston. I think there is a big need for the Yankees to respond with Quintana...

Balero, after the Eaton trade, where would you rank the Sox system?

Cashman has already said he does not see us landing a starter via trade, market is too pricey.
The Yankees are focusing on acquiring a closer and will put all other pursuits aside until Jansen or Chapman is a Yankee or they have to trade for someone.

Hill was the only FA SP they wanted and he was too pricey.

It's definitely in the top five I would say because of Moncada, Giolito, Kopech and Lopez. Then add you three 2016 first rounders -- Collins, Burdi, Dunning to that mix and now you have Carson Fulmer as possibly the No. 8 guy in the organization after being No. 2 in 2015 spring training.

I would say the Pale Hose are in that top 3-5 mix along with the Yankees and Brewers, with the Braves, Rockies, Dodgers, Astros and Cubs also vying for those top five spots.

Obviously, I'm partial to Collins as one of the Hurricanes best players in recent memory, but I think he will eventually move to first base so we will need another catcher.

I'm hoping after our other trades, most particularly Quintana and hopefully ****ing Scribe on Robertson, we will have the top class.

We COMIN

Keep your long dickings to yourself. Only going to happen IF Chapman and Jansen both refuse to sign with the Yankees and take the Marlins, Dodgers or Nationals offer instead.

Not bloody likely.

I have to take back what I said about Eaton. He's a much valued commodity than I thought.

-- 6.0 WAR player in 2016
-- .362 OBP
-- Second-best RF defender in baseball according to the Fielding Bible awards
-- AL leader in triples in two of the last three seasons
-- Team friendly 5-year, $38.4 million deal

Is he worth this superstar caliber prospect package for Eaton? Probably not.

But I think he will give the Nationals a much better return than what the D-Backs got out of Shelby Miller.

I also think the Nationals are taking a big risk, giving up both Lopez and Giolito, which is their insurance if Gio Gonzalez, Tanner Roark and Joe Ross get hurt or have down years.

Eaton is a very good player but the Nationals had the leverage and prospects to wait it out. They really wanted the player and rushed to make the deal.
It'd make more sense if they were moving Werth and signing or trading for another CF.

I know they wanted Turner to shift back to SS but damn.

I agree, I don't know how much of an upgrade it is because Espinoza is a capable SS that can pick it. I would rather keep the low cost, high upside pitching depth.

Turner is a future superstar SS though. I get wanting to move him to his natural position.

The Yankees will have a similar situation in 1-2 years.
Jorge Mateo, Gleyber Torres, Didi Gregorious and Starlin Castro are all SS.
Castro moved to 2B, Didi has shown to be a stud defensive SS and a capable bat, Mateo they have tinkered with in CF and at 2B. Torres they have tinkered with at 2B and potentially 3B.

A lot of Yankees fans are angry that they want to seemingly keep Didi at SS and move the others to accommodate him.
Personally, I say you make Torres your Machado at 3B and then leave Didi at SS.
