@JonHeymanCBS: marlins said outside-box hire, & there's industry speculation loria has been considering gm dan jennings to become manager

@JonHeymanCBS: as said, no confirmation from marlins. but talk seems to center on gm jennings as next marlins manager.

@JoeFrisaro: Heard same thing as @JonHeymanCBS that #Marlins shocking hire will be GM Dan Jennings, redefining front office ties to dugout

@MATrueblood: Dan Jennings last managed a team in Mobile in the early 1980s. Oh. Sorry. 'Coached.' Because it was a damn HIGH SCHOOL TEAM. 30 YEARS AGO.

Hi-may Garcia is actually on the mound for the Cardinals today in NY. He's only allowed one run through 5, but the Cards are getting 1 hit and shut out.

Sounds like a no hitter! Keep us informed if they keep this amazing stance of a shutout Throughout the game. When was the last time a team has been shut out through 5 innings?

Mariners.... Sigh....

Such a disappointing team with a bunch of choke artists. Leaving bases loaded in 7th and 8th in a tie game. 13 total runners left on base to lose the game by one. Seems every loss is like this.

Allen Craig's unprecedented free-fall, and the lisfranc injury that precipitated it. He was a great hitter a few short years ago:

"Roughly a thousand miles and a world away from Fenway Park, Allen Craig sat on the bench for the PawSox’ 11:05 a.m. contest in Indianapolis on Wednesday. The destination – Indianapolis, morning baseball, Triple A, outrighted off the 40-man roster – is almost mind-boggling to anyone who witnessed what Craig had become less than two years ago.

Then, he was viewed by consensus acclaim as one of the best pure hitters in the game, a hitter with a compact, direct swing that allowed him to limit his swings and misses and instead to hit hard line drives to all fields. He resided in the middle of the order on a team that won one World Series in 2011 and came within two wins of another title in 2013."

Two consecutive ugly games by the Yankees and their starting pitching. We need to turn it around. Drew needs to be benched and someone either called up or moved in to play 2B.

After a great run the wheels have come off. Have now lost 9 out of 10. Ugly.

David Wright's career may be in some jeopardy. Went on the DL in April with a hamstring, started having lower back problems. Diagnosed as spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal cord cavity. It now sounds as if it isn't a matter of when Wright comes back, but almost "if". There are micro and laser surgeries that can correct and alleviate the condition, but it's also considered degenerative and is usually fixed with a fusion surgery that probably not good for a ballplayer to have.

The injuries are piling up and the replacement players are not ready sans Refsnyder(who is not ready defensively to play 2B) or the plethora of relief pitchers we have sitting in AA and AAA will not help the rotation.

Cards drop the first 2 in KC.

Wacha goes on Sunday, look to get the finale and avoid the sweep on Sunday.

now that the Wainwright/Walden losses have filtered down through the rotation, the poor Cardinals are a sub-.500 team with their less than mediocre offense. The cubs still blow, though. gold-plated **** gibbons.

Too bad too since it seems this young team could really use The Captain's leadership, experience, bat, steady fielding, etc.

Cards avoid the sweep in KC, winning 6-1 behind Wacha.

Wacha is 7-0

AL East this year is the worst division in baseball but they're playing better?

So what.

The first quarter MVP and Cy Young doing work in Tampa Bay. Felix with the complete game shutout and Cruz with the 3 run go ahead HR in the 9th. Mariners finally back at .500. Yesterday Seager had the Grand slam to go ahead by 3 in the 8th, then a game winning HR in the 10th after Rodney botched yet another save. Hopefully they can keep the momentum going back in Seattle.

Felix should never have to pitch 9 shutout innings just to get a W. This team would have 10 wins or less without Nelson Cruz.

Yeah. Seager seems to be getting his bat going a bit more lately, and Cano had a pretty good series as well. Paxton and Elias have both had a few good outings in a row, so there are a few good things happening. On the negative side though, Kuma is still out for a while, and Walker has been bad. Ackley gets worse and worse, and Zunino is still a strike out machine. At least they are back at .500.

After sh*tting the bed for a couple of weeks the Yanks sweep the Royals. Dellin Betances still hasn't allowed an earned run in 26 innings of 41 strikeout work.
