The Rockies will be fortunate if someone just takes him and eats some money. There's no way they are getting any value back in return outside of a fringe prospect.
Might be worth a fringe pitching prospect, lol.

I almost feel like it would have been better just getting the two pitching prospects minus Reyes.

Cardinals rookie shortstop Aledmys Diaz, signed two years ago out of Cuba, is tearing the cover off the ball. Hoping that he keeps the job permanantly.

That's a misconception... Aside from opening day, typically April has fewer fans. because the games are relatively unimportant.

The Rockies are usually top ten in the league for attendance, and so far this year, it's no different:
http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance

Granted some teams only have one game on there, but you can look at any year.

Coming from ATT it's hard to see fewer fans. Routinely 40K on week nights in SF. It just looks bare to me out there.

Meh, it's a cold, rainy, late night, weekday game.

ATT is up there in attendance... as are the Dodgers, Yankees and Red Sox.

Problem is, Fenway Park only holds about 35,000.

After 10 games, Cardinals rookie SS Aledmys Diaz has a 1.318 OPS. Obviously that will drop precipitously, but the kid can hit and field. They're lucky that the incumbant got hurt.

Rockies win 2-0 in chicago behind two Aranado HR. They win the series.

Man, I'm tempering my expectations, but the Rockies look okay. To go 4-2 the last six games is way more than I could have hoped for.

I cannot believe the Yankees did not sign him as they felt he was a back up in the MLB. Still makes no sense to me.

Any team in baseball could have had Diaz last summer. The Cardinals exposed Diaz to waivers and nobody claimed him.

Yeah, I've told myself that, over and over. I hope they get me to the start of summer. Anything beyond that will be gravy.

I've always had a hard time with the Rockies, since they're our 'expansion' team.

I go to games when I can. I kinda say I'm a fan. But since they didn't exist when I was a kid, I grew up watching the Braves of all things. They were on TV all the time. It was really the only non-Colorado pro team I ever really considered myself a fan of.

Then in 1-2-3 fashion, the Rockies were born, the MLB went on strike, and Dave Justice got traded to the effing Indians and I just kinda fell away from baseball.

Still love going to games. I've always kinda intended to jump on with the Rockies at some point. But there's never really been much cause. Except for the WS year. And then you just kinda look like a douche jumping on at that point.

So maybe now is the time. But then I might look like you come July. When instead I could just be laughing at you.

Oh man. I grew up a pretty heavy Yankees fan - through Righetti, Nettles, Winfield, etc. My dad grew up in Manhattan, and it was one of the few things in which we found common ground.

But I longed for a team in Denver. I just couldn't get into the Bears (though I would go eight or ten times a year). There were the rumors every few years about he A's moving to Denver. But otherwise, nothing.

When the Rockies came, I was at BYU. But still, I jumped on, full board. I bought every piece of purple gear I could find, and wore them all over campus. I still visit Purple Row (a great Rockies community) at least once a day - even during the offseason. And I follow their prospects' list, and their minor league boxscores, with bated breath.

2007 was magical - to this day, probably my favorite sports experience (it was the first sports experience my then-young son ever got into - I kept him out of school for important day games for a good portion of two months). My sports love is still the Broncos; and the Rockies are but a distant second. But, I still take each year like an extended kick in the balls. I'll take my slivers of hope wherever I can find them.

Aledmys Diaz 5-5 tonight in San Diego. Now hitting .467 with a 1.322 OPS.

He's kicking the ball all over the park, though.

The team went mentally retarded for 8 full losses in a row so it does not shock me.
