It's safe and it allows them to grow into this Nuggets culture from the beginning. I expect to see Vanderbilt play in the G-league next season and challenge for a roster spot in 2020 like Monte Morris did. If either of those two gets healthy and approaches what they're capable of, this team will be even tougher. If they hit on both, Denver is a title contender.

Check this out on Murray. Coming out of Kentucky there were two possible concerns, his ability to be a PG, and his ability to defend a PG. It's always been assumed he'd be able to score.

https://nugglove.com/2018/10/28/denv...ray-defensive/

A look at Jamal Murray’s defensive improvements

The Denver Nuggets’ starting point guard, Jamal Murray, may be having a streaky start, but what is going overlooked is his defensive improvement. Murray has started off a little rocky offensively to start the year. He had double double in the loss to the Lakers, but also had a 0-9 game from the field in the big win over the Golden State Warriors.

However, he has actually improved his craft on the defensive end of the floor. Not only is he averaging a steal per game, he is also doing solid against whoever he has been matched up with so far.

For example, he only let Lonzo Ball score seven points against him in the loss to the Lakers. He even got the job done against Patrick Beverly (22 possessions), De’Aaron Fox (18 possessions) and Josh Jackson (16 possessions) as he did not allow them to score a single point when matched up with Murray.

Against the Phoenix Suns, he only allowed his Kentucky Wildcat counterpart, Devin Booker, to only three points in 11 possessions. In the season opener against the Clippers, Jamal had an outstanding defensive rating of 79.1. Keep in mind, any defensive rating below 100 is considered extremely valuable.

In the game against the Phoenix Suns, Murray possessed a defensive rating of 85 and he held a defensive rating of 97.4 in the win over the Sacramento Kings. This means that there have been only two games so far where Murray has had a defensive rating of above 100.

He's been that way since he left the Nuggets.

Wow!

Timberwolves agree to trade Jimmy Butler to 76ers

The 76ers are trading forwards Robert Covington and Dario Saric, guard Jerryd Bayless, and a 2022 second-round pick for Butler and forward Justin Patton, sources said.

Very impressive win by Milwaukee in Denver tonight. Was a schedule loss game for them. 3rd game in 4 days, went to OT yesterday in LA, playing at elevation today.

Hmm, I was thinking this trade would massively improve the Sixers chances to compete with Boston in the East but this article gives me pause...

Saric and Covington aren't stars like Butler, but they fit nicely next to Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. Today's best NBA offenses pair creators with stretchy, off-ball sharpshooters. Simmons is the kind of youthful on-ball maestro most teams crave, yet Philly just sent Minnesota a big chunk of its spacing for another ball-hungry dribbling machine. It's akin to a car trading its two rear tires for a second steering wheel.

Why would anyone want Melo? He is a trash player now.

It's looking like Jamal Murray's 48 point game wasn't his breakout after all.

Thunder are 9-1 in their last 10. Playing great defense which is refreshing.

Starting to click. Westbrook and PG13 together without the Melo distraction is a nice blend.

Agreed. I feel kinda bad for Melo...He was nice while he was here. Great to our community, just not the same Melo. Coaches were finding him and exploiting him every chance they got.

I have no sympathy for him. He chose a big spotlight and money over winning.
