I've kept an open mind to the idea of changes to the story from the books, but the changes they are making suck dick unfortunately.

Fearless predictions for ep 10 (doubly fearless since I've only been following the show second-hand)

The Shireen sacrifice works to a point, with a snowmelt paving the way for Stannis to complete his march on Winterfell. (based largely on preview spoilers). But he still needs resources from the Wall in order to perform a proper siege since the engines were burned, so it's not going to go as quickly as he'd like and he's still short on food.

Sir Strong joins the Kingsguard. Foundation laid for Cersei's demand for trial by combat. (only 50/50 chance she does the perp walk in this episode, if at all)

Tyrion and/or Grey Worm circle the wagons with Unsullied. Mormont put in charge of training warriors (similar to Selmy in books). Daario takes off on a search and rescue mission for Dany (which conveniently gets him away from Mereen in a similar fashion as the trade mission in the books).

Arya decides personal vendettas are far more important than a career as a faceless contract killer and takes care of Meryn Trant, who is guaranteed to die horribly.

Stannis arrives at Winterfell, but we get a temporary standoff. Not sure if Sansa & Theon will attempt an escape. If so, they may be jumping from frying pan to fire. (Well, Theon at least)

More wheel-spinning in Dorne. Jaime and Bronn may have to fend off at least one more attack.

Cut to Dany on mountainside or cave somewhere in the middle of nowhere struggling with control of her dragon.

Jon gets a pink letter from Ramsey, taunting him about Sansa, about the same time that Davos arrives to request reinforcements and whatever other aid and decides to lead the Wildlings south. Then gets shivved. Which is kind of a cliffhanger, except that we already know that Kit has signed for two more seasons.

85/15 chance he wargs into Ghost. In the alternative, he's severely injured but hangs on in a coma or somesuch.

Highly, highly unlikely we'll see Balon Greyjoy die until next season.

Oh, and the promo also shows Brienne and Pod in a winter wonderland, so we can expect them to show up in the Winterfell area just as things heat up. Which could get interesting, since she's sworn to kill Stannis (who is besieging Ramsey & Sansa) and she's sworn to protect Sansa. So ... unless and until she figures out that Sansa wants out, she could temporarily be fighting on Ramsey's side. How weird would that be?

I think your spot on for most of this. I'm not sure if Stannis dies or not this season. It would be the writers to let the Boltons somehow beat him (based on their infatuation with Ramsey). Also, I think the season will end of Jon Snow being stabbed by the watch. It just makes to much sense for them to leave the season with a cliff hanger like that.

Given the title, I should probably upgrade the Cersei penance walk to 60/40. And they may skip the details concerning Sir Strong's admission into the Kingsguard and the technicalities concerning the eligible trial by combat stand-ins, so that next season he just shows up and clobbers whoever he needs to clobber before going completely berserk.

And I'd say 90/10 that Selyse is a gonner.

Finally, I'll go out on a limb and say there's maybe 1 chance in 3 that, despite the various denials, Stoneheart will finally show up.

What denials are you referring to?

I'm mainly interested to see if they leave Jon as dead, or if there is some action that takes place after.

Mostly just denials by Fairly and her agent that she had anything do with GoT after season 3.

The writers do deserve flack for what they did with the unsullied. A few years ago they were built up like the Spartans, elite fighting machines. They spent episodes on this. Now they seem soft as ****.

Funny and true. Hell, I'm pretty sure a couple of the sons of harpy were actually women when I saw them with their masks off.

Yeah but is she going to buck naked while doing it? Cersei is a MILF but the book mentions her body not being hot to trot. We shall see...

I say it's the kid whose family was killed does it. There has been a lot of foreshadowing around how pissed he is at Jon Snow

It may not be just him. Could be a Julius Ceasar moment where it's not just one person doing the stabbing.

Could be fake, but:

if not, then WTF? Benjen? That could be quite a buzz if he makes another appearance after 3 years, or whatever it's been.

Guess we'll find out in a few hours.

That would be one way to distract us from Jon's fate. If Benjen returned we'd have ourselves the true King of the North. Call what's left of the Northern banners and finally get the armies of Manderly/White Harbor in the fight. The Starks would rise again.

All similar characters eventually fall to the Worf effect. It's inevitable.

But he took the black, so doesn't that disqualify him? Of course at this point, maybe technicalities aren't such a big thing.

Best I can come up with is that he shows up for body retrieval after Jon's killed. Assuming Jon wargs into Ghost, maybe Benjen drags Jon's body north of the wall, or into some other territory where the Others are animating dead. After Jon's body gets animated, Jon wargs back into it and maybe you get a free-willed undead, much like Coldhands, so Kit stays for another season or two. Maybe Benjen's already done something similar.

Or maybe he just spent three years scouting.

Or maybe it's a fake.

Is there even going to be a Night's Watch anymore? The Wildlings came south and all The Others have to do is pull a World War Z up the wall.

Screw the vows.
