Default Kirk Douglas - 101

How strange it must be for him to live in this world when the entire reality he grew up with, being one of the kings of Hollywood, is gone.

If you're trying to be helpful, start by making sense.

Good for Mr. Douglas.

Little known facts:

Parents were Jewish immigrants from what is now present day Belarus.

Born Issur Danielovitch, his name was then changed to Izzy Demsky after arrival in the U.S. before he legally changed it to Kirk Douglas.

Worked more than 40 jobs before he gained his first stage acting stint. Was helped by Lauren Bacall.

Has appeared in more than 90 movies, written 10 books (novels and memoirs).

Survived both a helicopter crash in 1991 and a stroke in 1996.

U.S. Navy vet. Served in WWII.

BTW, I wasn't disparaging KD in the least. I love the guy. Two of my favorite movies are "Paths of Glory" and "Lonely are the Brave." I was just thinking it must be strange for anyone who lives that long - everybody he grew up with, and the entire world he lived in (the Golden Age of Hollywood), has slipped into his wake. He must feel like a survivor.
