Yeah. If John and Mike could find a way to work together we could be perennial contenders but that's never going to happen.

Not really. There was a conflict about philosophy on how to play defense. Shanahan wanted an aggressive blitzing team Haslett wanted a bend not break scheme due to his players

Nope I doubt Mike will find the team to work on this dumpster fire, but it is funny how he has stayed here so long. And you have to connect the dots. Elway falls in love too soon ( see OZ & Lynch)and has a pretty big ego. On the other hand he has been a Bronco for life & is not dumb. He knows this is a dumpster fire & he knows that none of these 3 QB's are it. I just hope's he call's Mike up & offers him a slot of some kind as Mike is still young & still get's it. I think he's matured and is willing to tell it like it is. Let's just hope that John is mature enough to reach out.
There is no official role for Mike Shanahan, 64, on his son’s staff with the 49ers. But the father has attended several of the team’s practices this offseason, including both days of the 49ers’ mandatory minicamp this week. Mike has been issued his own iPad that gives him access to the 49ers playbook and coach's film. He will likely visit for an extended stay during training camp. But Kyle said he believes his dad will mostly remain home -- only a phone call away -- during the regular season.

Still waiting for Action to come on here to call me an idiot again and provide his proof that we aren't running 3 receiver sets most of the time when I broke it down pretty simply.

We won back to back superbowls with Mike as GM. He had total control over free agency and the draft when he took over in 95. He just never had the job title. John Beake had the GM title from 1995 to 1998 and Neal Dahlen was GM from 1999 to 2002 and Ted Sundquist after that till 2008. They all answered to Mike. In 1995 when he took over he was also given the title of vice president of football operations with the final say on all football matters.

After Elway retired the Broncos were still a top 5 franchise in winning percentage at 91-69 from 1999-2008 despite being 500 the last 3 seasons of Mike's reign. Im not saying it was right or wrong to fire Mike but i think it was pretty remarkable that we stayed in contention and were still relevant after we lost Elway and the other powerhouses in the AFC had top QBs like Peyton, Brady and Big Ben.

I like the way U think!! Certainly can't hurt. I watched the whole video on Mike talking with CC about coaching John. Very interesting & Mike said "here's a story you haven't heard". When Mike was fired due to protecting Elway from Dan Reeves - John was pissed & caught up with Mike a few months later to ask why he left. Mike knew John wouldn't just let it go so he said it was about the money. Sure enough John said "how much?" Mike said 500K so John tells him " hell I would have paid for that out of my pocket & a free car to boot" .

Shanahan became a coaching star as a coordinator and confidant of Elway's while the Broncos were being coached by Dan Reeves. But Reeves ended up firing Shanahan, accusing him of insubordination for supposedly conspiring with Elway to hatch game plans behind the head coach's back.

It's pretty freaking simple jackazz...

Take our TE's for example and their percentages of total offensive snaps : Virgil Green is at 50%, A.J. Derby at 48%, Heurman is at 26% = 124% of the snaps for all our TE's total = we are only running 2 TE sets roughly 24% of the time assuming their is usually 1 TE on the field. There could be small variations I suppose... but this is pretty damn close. I don't recall ever seeing us run formations with no TE's and if we do you could count it on one hand.

All our RB's (including Janovich) = 110% of the total snaps which roughly translates to 1 RB on the field most of the time.

Now look at our total WR snap counts = 256 %

You act like an azz questioning whether "we even watch the game" - but I think you are the one passed out bud light drunk with a viagra erection during the games. We run 3 receiver sets most of the time... rarely 4. I watch it with my sober eyes and not distracted by an artificial boner.

I am not going to go back and rewatch every play and every personnel grouping... I suppose the variations could throw it off 5-10%... but the fact of the matter is we are running 3 + receiver sets and only 1 TE way a huge majority of the time and it's a problem.

Don't use the we have to because we get behind excuse... we have abandoned the run way too early every single game on this losing streak. The Eagles game is the only one that got way out of hand quickly. We were in every other game late into the 3rd quarter at least.

Next step : IGNORE the troll.
Not sure how I missed this post.

Just because we have 1 TE in the game doesn't mean we're running 3 WRs.

I never claimed we didn't run it most of the time. All I said was 75% was not accurate.

We've been losing for majority of the season down by multiple scores.

Well...being its week 10, we'd be 7-2. And then the next 7 weeks go 2-5 and barely miss the playoffs, giving us enough hope for the next year. Then he will give us his Shanny speak about "any time you have an offense and defense in the top 10..." and our eyes will glaze over because hey...one time a long time ago he won us two titles.

And SoCal will fap so hard, because every day will be christmas for him.

What if Shanahan let Slowik go after the 2008 collapse and stayed?

There is something wrong when Mike Shanahan is not coaching in the NFL while Vance Joseph can get a head-coaching job.

The sad thing is Nate Jackson would be the second TE on this current roster over Heurmann and AJ Derby.

You have to be able to pass in the NFL. Simply lining up and running more isn't going to do anything because teams are stacking the box and daring us to pass.

And it wouldn't matter anyway, our Special Teams would give up a score or 2.

This team just flat out sucks. I don't think it will be fixed this year. Hello top 5 pick.

I haven't read all of the posts...but, this needs to be said in McCoy's defense.

We have about $30m/yr going to two WR's (DT/Sanders). That's a big reason why we are sticking with the pass game.

Like it or not...that's where we put our money.

Secondly we have 2nd tier RB's.....If we had a Zeke etc. then sure....but, we don't. We have average backs running behind an average at best OL.

So, we are trying to go to our best players....DT/Sanders.

It's not working....but, simply running the ball more doesn't do much either. Maybe, we have less turnovers, but we will have just as many 3 and outs, maybe more.

This team needs to work all week on its 3rd down packages. When Sunday comes they run on first down, run on 2nd down and then pass on 3rd. Need to do that consistently. Get that running game moving downfield.
