![]() LOS ANGELES (CP) - Former star left-wing Luc Robitaille has been given a job in the Los Angeles Kings' front office, the club announced Wednesday. Robitaille, hired as the Kings' alternate governor, will focus primarily on the Kings business operations and community relations. "The game of hockey has been extremely good to me and my family, and I have always considered the Kings to be my second family," Robitaille said in a statement. "Even though I'm not on the ice anymore, my goal remains the same - to bring the cup to Los Angeles." Robitaille is the highest scoring left-wing in NHL history with 668 career goals and 1,394 points. He played 14 of his 19 seasons with the Kings (1986-87 to 1993-94, 1997-98 to 2000-01 and 2003-04 to 2005-06). He also played for Pittsburgh, the New York Rangers and Detroit. The Kings will retire Robitaille's No. 20 jersey in January 20. |

![]() I hope he takes over for Tim Leiweke who is the Kings President right now sometime down the road. I can't stand Tim Leiweke who is an idiot in my book. The only reason they made changes with the coach and General Manager in the offseason is because of the team right down the freeway.(Ducks) It will be an embarrasment if the Ducks win the cup before LA did.

We didn't play with the desperation that I know we can play with. I feel awful about that effort. When you have an effort like that, you really do have to search your souls. And we're going to have to do some serious searching for the entire team.” – Coach Marc Crawford “We can look at that and say that's who we are, or we can look at the Anaheim game. We beat one of the top teams. We played a good, solid game that day. We have to stay on that path. The other way is not an option. We're 30 games into the season, we can't wait any longer.” – Mattias Norstrom “We have to find a way to be a team that can put back-to-back-to-back games. That's what we've been searching for all season. Until we do it, there will a question about who we are.” – Craig Conroy “It's kind of a weird rule (in the labor agreement). It kind of handcuffs everybody. I don't understand why you'd have to go through waivers if you're getting called up to your NHL team. I would understand if you were getting sent down, but getting called up?” – Jason LaBarbera, on the rule keeping him in Manchester “Depending on injuries and what not, we would assess it on an ongoing basis whether we take a chance bringing him up or not. It would depend on other teams' injuries and what not, but that's a hypothetical question. He's been a total pro. When we called up Barry, I called and explained the whole thing to him, and he was great. He's certainly earned a lot of respect from myself and from our organization.” – Ron Hextall, about Jason LaBarbera ![]() Kings Tverdovsky (groin) IR Sopel (foot) IR McCauley (knee) IR Petiot (knee) IR Garon (groin) IR Avalanche May (shoulder) IR |

![]() Cripes. If their next fight is as worthless as the first one they should probably do everyone a favor, and forget about it. They didn't throw many punches and neither guy landed anything worth while. It was a waste of time.
Good find re: the Kopitar article whoever posted it. He's another of the fine young players in the league. |
