21 hits! Nice! Texas had to bring an outfielder to the mound to get through the bottom of the 8th.

I'm curious to see how we fare offensively in Texas. Hopefully De La Rosa will get us through a good 5 or 6 innings.

The Tigers have won 7 games in a row and are off to an excellent 19-9 start on the season.

Miggy is starting to heat up....his batting average has climbed up from .206 on April 21st up to his current .293 average.

Miggy was 4 of 5 at the plate last night, with a double, a HR, and 4 RBIs.

I don't know if he'll replicate the numbers he put up the last few seasons, but a .320 average with 40 doubles, 35 HRs, and 130+ RBIs is well within his capabilities.

Miggy picked up a few bad habits at the plate when he was injured at the end of last season when he was compensating for injuries and he finally looks like he's starting to round into his old form.

BOOM!!!!

Miggy with a 3 run blast with 2 outs in the top of the 9th inning to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead over Baltimore.

Victor Martinez follows up with some solo yard work.

Tigers lead 4-1, after trailing 1-0 going into the 9th inning.....Miggy rules.

I hope the Rockies aren't starting to slide. Pitching didn't appear to be atrocious last night, but 1 run on 5 hits? Not acceptable. We have to be able to score runs on the road.

We are on a record pace for 1-0 wins in the MLB this season. Wasn't there 2 of them yesterday? Just like soccer! If this keeps up, they will lower the mound another 4 inches.

Yeah, that was bad. Esp against SD.

It could be worse though. Did you see the Dodgers/Diamondbacks game?

What is wrong with Rockies pitching? Only reason Giants stay up is because of pitching. Why is it so hard for the Rockies to find pitching? I have never liked Hawkins as closer. Rant over.

They won in ten with homer by Morneau.

I'm new to the sport, but I keep hearing that it's hard to recruit pitchers in Denver because of the altitude. Not only does it serve as an advantage to the batters and inflate ERAs, but it's also really difficult to get much break on the ball.

It does seem like our pitchers fare a little better at home than visiting pitchers do. Obviously, we have the best offense in the majors right now, but I think visiting pitchers aren't used to the whole altitude factor.

I thought the humidor mitigated the altitude factor. Maybe not....

The Boston Red Sox have agreed with shortstop Stephen Drew for the remainder of the 2014 season, pending a physical, two baseball sources confirmed.

He will make about $10 million, which is the prorated portion of the $14.1 million he would have received if he had accepted Boston's qualifying offer in the offseason, a source told ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick.

DETROIT -- Texas Rangers slugger Prince Fielder is contemplating season-ending surgery, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Thursday.

Fielder, 30, did not make the trip back to Detroit to face his old team on Thursday because he was scheduled to meet with spine specialist Dr. Drew Dossett to look at the herniated disk in his neck. Fielder will likely undergo a battery of tests as part of that examination.

Ooof....Detroit dumping Prince Fielder's salary and getting Ian Kinsler in return is looking pretty good right now.

Fielder rarely ever missed games before this season....he had a 547 consecutive game streak before this injury.

Ian Kinsler has fit in nicely in Detroit, batting .317 with 31 runs scored, 14 doubles, 4 HRs, and 20 RBIs with 6 stolen bases.

True but they needed a bat like Fielder. They had Kinsler types already.
Still, shrewd move in retrospect by the Tigers.

I disagree somewhat with that, Victor Martinez has filled Prince Fielder's spot nicely in the lineup.

They needed a guy like Ian Kinsler....a slick fielding 2nd baseman with a hard nosed edge to him. He'll bat .280 for you, can score 100+ runs, with some pop in his bat....over 30 HRs in a couple of seasons. Detroit also wanted to get more aggressive on the base paths and Kinsler will steal 20 to 30 bases a season.

Prince Fielder's weight was going to come back to haunt him in his 30s....Detroit was lucky to shed that long $20+ million a season contract they gave him, while getting Ian Kinsler in return for about half the price.

Detroit has gone from being from being a slow lumbering team that depended on the 3 run HR to win games, to being an aggressive team on the basepaths under Brad Ausmus and the additions of Ian Kinsler and Rajai Davis.

I liked Prince Fielder, but he wasn't overly happy in Detroit last season.

Tigers have looked like the best team in baseball most of the season but then get swept by the Indians and lose again today to make it 4 straight. A's now have MLB's best record.

Man the Sox are in freefall this year. 7 straight loses, they need to do something to change this club up.

I knew whoever signed Fielder would regret it at the salary he was looking for. Guy was up and down his entire career, from above-average to a good player, NOT worth $20 million a year.
