Woods also said it "makes no sense" that the Broncos rank near top in fewest yards allowed and near bottom in points yielded.

Yes it does and the casual fan can see it. We are only ranked near the top in yards allowed because opponents have been given short fields due to special teams and offensive ineptitude... not because this defense is dominant or good in the least themselves. Granted it sucks when the opponent is getting the ball around the 40 + yard line every damn time... but this defense has been a joke consistently giving up 3rd and longs because of poor communication, stupid zone concepts, and no pash rush/blitzing. Teams are easily picking Woods/Josephs sh*t scheme apart.

Its a good thing we promoted this guy to coordinator. I would have hated to have lost him to another team.

No, the reason they rank near the bottom is because the offense and ST were giving up points and field position. Also, the defense was still somewhat good leftover from Wade before Woods and Joseph screwed it all up.

Move to OLB makes sense, VJ's defenses don't believe in pressuring the QB

Can someone point me to the place where we asked demarcus to lose weight? I have not seen that article. Everyone mentions it but I can't remember reading that. He weighed 280 at the combine at 6-4. And that is what his broncos weight is listed as well.

I think it was a twitter mention and not a full article. I think he dropped down from 273 or so to 260-263ish for the move to OLB.
Look at the pictures of him from the QB club, he's not close to 273-280.

Um... did you read my post? I know reading comprehension for some folks on the OMANE is tough... but that is pretty much exactly what I said genius.

My disagreement is that the D was pretty dang good through the first 5-6 games, but regressed under Woods. Your post made it sound like the only reason for not giving up many yards was poor field position from the offense and special teams. That is why they are giving up points, but the defense was fine until the Philly game.

Remember when we wouldnt draft a MLB? Broncos just slide over 1 spot for the next few years.

This coaching staff is just odd in their incompetence. With some of this stuff, you'd almost have to willfully be bad. And it's in all three phases.

Surely, Elway won't let this go into a second year, will he? I mean, I realize he has a hard time admitting when he's made a mistake. But this is drifting into the Josh McDaniels level of bad.

When all 3 phases are bad, you have to wonder how much of that is in the individual coaches and how much is on the had coach. We know the offensive staff is competent, but the offense has stunk. A lot of that is no QB or RT, but they were better last year with a 2nd year Siemian, no Leary, and Booker as the best RB. I have the same concern with BYU right now and Sitake. Are Woods, Olivo and McCoy all that bad, or is it just the Head coach? I don't know the answer, but I do have my suspicions.

Probably because McDaniels inherited a perenial 8-8/9-7 team and Joseph took a Super Bowl caliber D and turned it into a historic (on a franchise level) pile of ****.

McDaniels was a **** person who lost the team, but a brilliant X and O guy. Joseph is retarded at scheming and is losing the team despite being a nice guy because he's clueless.

Also, McDaniels gave us Von Miller, so can't complain in the end.

Walker should be fulfilling the role Malik Jackson did. inside pressure to allow the Miller/Ray/Shaq to get sacks. Poor management on him.

This - I find it hard to believe that Woods doesn't understand that he has great corners and that they can take risks pressuring QB's because of it.

I think VJ has to go, but I am worried that he won't because Elway doesn't want to look trigger happy

The pick surprised me, but he is exactly what this defense is missing this year. It would have been nice for him to get 25% of the snaps in a rotation and then take a bigger leap next season and the year after. Because of poor management in the switch, we probably won't see a big impact until his rookie deal is up.

Yeah, outside of Bolles, who right now looks like could possibly be the 3rd best OT taken despite being picked first, we've gotten about zero positive contribution from the 2017 draft.
