More than once, our team has ended up paying more for a player than we would have had to, if we had just paid them up front instead of trying to negotiate with them for weeks or even months. We've lost players they were too cheap to pay. Don't want to do the math, but our combined QB salary is laughable. Even though we paid Von, they were being super stubborn about getting that deal done - multiple articles appeared at the time, basically calling the team and Elway cheap.

I don't mind smart frugality. But Elway seems to always take that route regardless, it's his go-to move with coaches and players both. I was stunned Wade left. Regardless of what issues there might have been, I know we could have kept him, had we paid him a bit more. But wasn't going to happen. We can just promote people and bring in coordinators.. and we are good to go!

Except now our team is full of dysfunctional coaches, QBs, players.. while key pieces of our team were let go for peanuts.

Everyone keeps mentioning Kyle Shanahan. The guy who was the best hire appears to be Sean McVay.

He did ask Peyton to take a paycut and Peyton did.
Glad he got his money back.

Maybe Elway should hire a better financial advisor or something.

Who was smart enough to hire the guy below about 5 minutes after the Broncos thought they'd be better off without him.

Yeah, although I don't know whether that was his call or managements' call.

Its kind of setting up to be a raw deal.

Not only is it a case of an overbearing Jerry Jones style GM situation, but one on a cash budget who doesn't have the kind of blank check authority most of those overbearing GMs or owner/GMs have.

Elway assembled the team that went to 2 Super Bowls and won it all in 2015. Now that we're losing all of a sudden people losing their minds. Decisions have to be made and unfortunately several have not worked out. I Paxton was the guy we wouldn't be having this conversation. Paxton sucks and we have no qb so now everything falling apart. A competent qb could give hope and even make this trash oline look a bit better. We're seeing the domino effect here

Elway hasn't done **** without Manning. Manning was the control freak who kept guys focused and it's not crazy to suggest he was the free-agent magnet as well.

Elway's drafts have been abortions and there has been no continuity with the coaching staff's since he has been here. Always changing the diapers. It finally is catching up with him.

Agree with you but Elway got manning here which got us to 2 Super Bowls. Could be a lot worse. Situation sucks now and we can all be Monday morning qbs and question every move. Personally Elway a offensive drafts is what's costing us big time. Total **** show

Kind of irrelevant....Brady hasn't done **** without Belichick either, or Belichick hasn't don't **** without Brady. Denver's never won a Superbowl without Elway. I guess it's a little harder to dominate when your lose a HOF Quarterback.

honestly, there's too much talent still on this team for it to be performing the way it is. Talent that Elway acquired. The coaching is bad...that was a bad choice, he went for the new talent instead of the retread coach, which a lot of people were wanting. It didn't work, I'll only be worried if he doesn't have the guts to admit it was a failed experiment and move on.

Elway is a good GM as long as he can sign future HoF QBs in free agency.

SF is a true dumpster fire. I wasn't on the Kyle bandwagon but I think he deserves more time. He is at least actively engaged in the gameday activities on the sideline. That team has also had several close games. And he is stuck with CJ Beathard for god's sake.

VJ took over a 9-7 team and reduced it to rubble. Agreed on McVay. That's what I wanted to see if we were going to go young HC. Somebody to bring in a new energy, attitude. Instead we get Radio. It's clear that Kyle was the right hire and retaining Wade as well.

Elway's God complex is clearly out of control.

Five starters on that defense were acquired through free agency, and they got really lucky with Harris (lets be honest, all UDFAs who make it big are luck).

90 percent of the defense was drafted by Elway? Lol. Try again. Exactly how many starters on the Super Bowl team did Elway draft?

Von
Wolfe
Travethan
S. Williams
Malik Jackson
Chris Harris CFA
Shaq Barrett
Bradley Roby

FA's
Talib
Stewart
Brandon Marshall
D.Ware
TJ Ward

Those are most of the major contributors that season/game. Though Shane Ray had a FF in the Superbowl and 4 sacks on the year as well. should be noted that neither Marshall or Stewart were high profile signing's either, they were well scouted under the radar additions.

Elway's struggled with drafting offense, but to say they are abortions it exaggeration well beyond my use of 90%.

How do you draft an UDFA? Harris and Barrett were not drafted.
