Default Elway is Cheap

I think we wouldn't have nearly the problems we have now if Elway wasn't so cheap. I don't think Elway is a bad GM aside from the fact he is CHEAP. He wouldn't pay Wade, or Ware.. or numerous other players, who have left as a result. Save 5 million here.. 7 million there.. in an effect to look like a brilliant GM, he has stumbled and let go key components that have made our team what it is. In the end, saving a few million is only dooming this team to failure.

I like Elway, and want him to carry on with the team. I just want him and the front office to stop being such cheapskates. The have screwed up badly with several players, waiting and having to pay more than they would have, had they not waited. They paid Von.. and that's about it. They need to get their priorities in order. And that includes people, be it coaches or players, that make this team better.

He liked cheap semian who sucks. He liked Woods who is unproven and did not pay Wade who deserved a contract worth less than subpar NFL players. He liked VJ who knows nothing at all and is cheap. Elway likes cheap QBs that is why the broncos have a lot of those.

Elway likes cheap

You didnít realize this before?

Wesley Woodyard agrees. He looks mighty fine in that Titans uniform.

Yep...he always has been. Ask the bartenders and waitstaff of Cherry Creek. He thinks, as a master of the universe, only certain people deserve to get paid.

Those people are not Wade Philips or minimum wage workers.

i think you are confusing hubris with being cheap. he's paid players before (DT, Von, Manning). but i think he put way too much stock in his guys. and let guys like Wade and Ward walk to move untested Elway guys up the ranks. and entered the season with zero plan behind Siemian/Lynch.

You should ask the Delta flight attendants how many drinks he fires up on a two hour flight.

He has paid very few players. And let go talent instead of paying a low price to keep them. Simmons played great tonight, so in that case, I get why they felt Wade maybe as a rah-rah guy wasn't worth the roster spot. Maybe. But it's happened time and again. Even the Von signing took way longer than it should. In fact, most of the signed players we've probably overpaid for, because Elway waited and waited.

He is outsmarting himself in regards to trying to be a brilliant GM with the checkbook. How about instead.. get a great team, and stop nickle and diming our team to death.

Yeah, I agree with this. The same oversized ego that Shanahan got after his success here - thinking every absurd decision he gets in his head is above reproach, and will obstinately stick with that until the accumulation of them kills the franchise.

The Wade one is really bothersome because he didn't count on the cap.

I really don't think that was about money. It was about Elway not liking all the credit Wade got for that Super Bowl win. Yes I really do think Elway's ego is that big.

he paid McManus big kicker money, tried to pay Brock franchise QB money, and made his mark by hitting fa hard. again, any perception of him building a rooster on the cheap stems from hubris imo. the guy seems bent on trying to win with his guys--and that's from the staff to the players.

which we are, I believe, 16 million under anyway, but it's about "cash-flow" they say with a billion dollar franchise...yet they found the $35 million to pay Elway.

I don't think it's money, he trusts his "gut" too much.

Eh hes not cheap, he paid Von a huge deal, DT/Marshall/Sanders/Harris/Talib and so on got big contracts.

He has been a little cheap in free agency though minus Leary.

I guess he should have paid Wade.

Replace "gut" with "ego" and I agree.

Our O stinks because of QB play granted thats on Elway. I agree on Wade. Defense is hard to say whats the damn issue.

DT, Sanders, CJ, Derby Butt Carlos Henderson and the OL is much improved still not great but a few pieces away.

Allbright's inside sources had StL taking Wentz 1st overall, had him laughing at the notion Denver was talking about trading Ward, had him laughing at the media for thinking TJ Ward might be released/traded, had him telling people Sloter was a lock to make the 53-man roster.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was wolf7548whatever. but i would take anything he tweeted or posted with a massive grain of salt.
