Should've gone with Meulens. I've liked him since his playing days. We'll see how Boone holds up in crisis mode. I'm a bit skeptical but then again I hate them with an impressive zeal. They're so loaded with young talent, it'd be pretty hard to mess it up. Girardi's gonna be a big loss, though. I thought he was great last October, save for that one game.

I actually thought we were going to hire Beltran. It came down to Bam Bam(Meulens) and Boone.

Heading into the search I was hoping for Bam Bam but as the search progressed I thought either Beltran or Boone was going to get it as they were both highly respected around the game and were great locker room guys. Considering the timing after Beltran interviewed I thought it would be him.

I kind of like the out of left field hire of Boone. He's an analytics guy and he does a ton of homework on teams to prep for his job at ESPN.
I expect there will be some rough patches but I believe overall, if he hires the right staff he will be great.

I was going homer when I said Aaron Bleeping Boone is the new Yanks skipper.
That's all Boston fans ever call him for the most part. That was one of the most crushing memories for Sox fans ever.

We have a young roster loaded with talent, an ever more loaded farm system, a GM who is a gangster and an owner who will stay out of said GM's way because he's making him a **** ton of money.

I am about to be a spoiled ass Yankees fan again and I ****ing love it!

You've certainly got a bunch of ALCS participant banners you'll be able to hang in the coming years.

Whereas the White Sox will have "coulda been a contender.", "the year that almost was." and "another first round exit."

Don't do it bro.

You'll be heartbroken after Chicago makes NY their personal cumrag in the ALCS every year. And you'll blame Scribe for lying to you about the Yankees future.

And you already know how dishonest Scribe is with his promises

Hence the child please from earlier in the thread.

Too much trending the Yankees way. He trains with Tanaka in the off-season, Yankees have a proven track record with Japanese players they do research on(they just bid on Kei Igawa blindly), they have the relationship with CAA, the market would be a massive boon to both Ohtani and the NPB(to have Tanaka and Ohtani on staff would showcase it)and you have a bright future.

If he signs with any other team it's a massive upset to me.

Preller is a damn good GM indeed. The only problem with him is that he pushes the boundaries of ethics. Even outside of the reported stuff regarding the disclosure of medical info in trades and international signing violations, I have heard some crazy stories about him.

Oh I fully expect him to come under investigation at some point, but it's San Diego, he has to do something to make them a contender.
