greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;
goal difference in all group matches;
greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.
Second step: If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the first step (see example in Table 1), their ranking will be determined by applying to the group matches between the teams concerned the criteria listed in art. 32 (5) lit. d) to h) in the order of their listing.

greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned;
goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned;
greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned;
greater number of points obtained in the fair play conduct of the teams based on yellow and red cards received in all group matches;
drawing of lots by the FIFA.
So that's basically the last tiebreaker.

It's somewhat common, Japan just advanced because of the fairplay tiebreaker.

Sounds like people think the 2 seed is more desirable from that group.

Wonder who can more-subtly throw the match.

England have currently received two yellow cards and no red cards after two games.

Belgium have received three yellow cards and no red cards – meaning England currently top Group G by a single Fifa fair play point.

Why does this thread keep saying it has three more pages than it actually does?

You see that with large old threads sometimes. My guess is it might be related to deleted or purged posts, but I don't know that.

Chrissy posted 75+ times. She fell in love with one of the 2014 WC players.

Stats from the first round based on geography:

Africa: 5 teams entered, 0 teams advanced (0% succes rate, 2.2 points per team average)
Asia: 5 teams entered, 1 team advanced (20% success rate, 3 points per team average)
Europe: 14 teams entered, 10 teams advanced (71% success rate, 5.2 points per team average)
North and Central America: 3 teams entered, 1 team advanced (33% success rate, 2.3 points per team average)
South America: 5 teams entered, 4 teams advanced (80% success rate, 5.8 points per team average)

Even though Asia and Africa make up 75% of the worlds population they are **** at soccer.

I feel bad for them too, but they know the rules so fair game. Senegal played aggressive so more yellow cards.

Argentina and England always choke and African countries typically struggle in WC.
3 out of 4 left... Brazil vs Mexico will be great.

Haha it's so true.

This is the first year of really getting into watching the sport. None of my Central American buddies understand why I laugh so much whenever one of them dives and winches in agony. They all just say it's part of the game.
