No Fox is on another level of conservativeness.

The staff has very little confidence in our pass protection.

Think the NFL is setup for these rookies to dominate on offense during their rookie years. Sutton has the skills to do it and I really like his long term potential as a leader. Unfortunately Case makes everything questionable. Can get him the ball one play, overthrows it to the defense the next. I think it limits Sutton's upside this season for sure.

Then why do they call so many passes?

With Keenum every pass play has the potential to be slow developing, so that's not it.

They played a cover 3 shell, it wasn't a cover 1 defense with man underneath like you will see a lot of the time when a single safety is lined up like the Chargers lined up against us. Musgrave deserves a lot of credit for the adjustments he made in the 4th quarter actually based on the defensive looks we were getting. Those seam runners and deep dig routes that Keenum was able to hit to get us moving on 2 touchdown drives were coaching adjustments to beat a cover 3. Coaches often take a lot of heat around here, but I think Musgrave deserves some credit for the adjustments he made to attack the Chargers defense.

Cover 3 can leave outside guy 1 on 1 based on route combination/ play action but give him over technique. Point is, Sutton can win 1 on 1 regardless of technique DB is playing on a go route.

In cover 3 corners will tend to be playing off the line of scrimmage, bailing out immediately, and keeping everything in front of them, so a go route usually isn't what your looking for against that coverage. The main reason is because the defender will always have his eyes on the football, and will be able to adjust and have just as much of a chance at making a play, it is truly a 50-50 ball. This is opposed to making the same throw against man coverage, where you can take advantage of go routes with back shoulder throws for example. I understand what you are saying as Sutton can win those one on one match ups, but I am not angry at anyone for not throwing go routes against the defense the Chargers played. I also think with all the criticism that this coaching staff has received, the adjustments that the offense made to hit the seams and the deep dig routes in the 4th quarter, they deserve some credit.
