Speaking of Reyes.... he's been optioned to Albuquerque. From what I understand, the Rockies can recoup about 1/4 of his $22million salary. That's still around $17 million they owe him.

Gotta be some kind of record for highest-paid Minor Leaguer of all time.

The Pirates begin to turn to their nice stash of arms. Jameson Taillon comes up before Tyler Glasnow because he showed better command at Triple-A Indianapolis while Glasnow has been effectively wild.

The Colorado Rockies take 100-mph flamethrower Riley Pint, Overland Park, Kan. HS pitcher, with the fourth overall pick in the amateur draft. I think Pint has the highest ceiling of any player in this class.

Mariners got some Mercer University kid who looks like Adam Jones and then some HS kid at #55.

Oh well. Edwin Diaz was throwing 100 in relief last night just nasty.

As a Mariners fan, my condolences to Kyle Lewis, and he was such a promising hitter.

That the M's even got rid of Jones is absurd. I think that we have and continue to see improvement with player development, especially in re: to hitting. For the most part, our line up is hitting a lot better than last year and IIRC, the teams OBP is also up.

They just can't crap the bed like they did with Zunino. Alex Jackson and Kyle Lewis have incredible hitting talent and power. That will be a hell of an OF in a few years as long as they pan out.

Yeah. Seager and Marte are the only 2 hitters on the Roster that came up for Mariners. I think Peterson is doing better. He had a 17 game hitting streak at one point, and has been doing well the last month. Jackson hasn't hit great so far, but is young, and came in mid season. Right now the cupboard is pretty bear for the next few years, but there are guys like Tyler O'neill, Jackson, Wilson that have a lot of potential.

I have a lot of hope with the new regime doing better than the old regime and am very excited about Lewis. Moore is doing really well and could be in the rotation at some point next year. There was a dry spell where all the top picks flamed out (except for seager), and the only one who didn't was traded (adam Jones).

Pretty damn excited about the Yankees landing Rutherford. Big time bat, should be a stud.

Plus we are also winning for a change. Over .500 for the first time in ages.

We have been 0-9 at Yankees stadium lately. We have had one playoff appearance, swept, since Trout has been here. We were the thorn in the Yankees side. Not anymore especially if both teams don't make it to the playoffs.

Detroit rookie starting pitcher Michael Fulmer looks like the real deal.

He came over in the Yoenis Cespedes trade with the Mets last season.

Fulmer shut down the Yankees today and is now 7-1 with a 2.52 ERA on the season.

Miggy had two hits today to reach the 2,400 hit plateau.

I think he's the fifth youngest player to 2,400 career hits.

It doesn't matter how bad the Angels are....they own my Tigers, especially when the Tigers play them in Anaheim.

The last time the cubs won a world series, The Ottoman Empire still existed.

Ichiro is having a good season (albeit, as a reserve/part-time starter) at 42 years of age.

He's batting .350 on the season after his 3 hit performance last night.

He's one hit away from tying Pete Rose's record of 4,256 hits, although 1,278 of those hits were in Japan.

He's also only 23 hits away from 3,000 career hits in MLB....there was some doubt if Ichiro would get to 3,000 hits this season coming off the bench, but he's earned his way into more at bats than anticipated and should be a lock for 3,000 later this season.

That's gonna be a great moment; looking forward to this more than a typical milestone. Such an unique player, somehow underrated all these years. Still remember his defense as a youngster. One of the best RFs ever.

It sounds like in Japan,’’ Rose told USA TODAY Sports, “they’re trying to make me the Hit Queen. I’m not trying to take anything away from Ichiro, he’s had a Hall of Fame career, but the next thing you know, they’ll be counting his high-school hits.

Pete is gambling on Ichiro's final hit total as we speak.

Don't you really want to see the Yankees pawn off Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller and replenish their organization with more cost controlled youth?

I would like to see Cashman try to pry Eloy Jimenez away from the Cubs for Miller, and get Reynaldo Lopez from the Nationals for Chapman.

No. I want them to re-sign Chapman, keep those elite 3 some together and wait for Judge, Mateo and Kap to come up next season for more youth.

All the rumors had the Yanks wanting Schwarber from the Cubs but it's a non starter for them so supposedly we like Baez, Russell and Torres. Wouldn't mind Jimenez but with Castro and Gregorius up the middle already along with Judge, Mateo, Sanchez ready to come up soon. Youth won't be the problem for the Yankees. High quality young SP with be.

Now if we can pull in Lopez, Fedde or Cole from the Nationals for Miller or Chapman then I would be all for it.
But if it ain't starting pitching then **** no.

Outside of Kap and Lail, all of our starting pitching talent is too far away.

Clarkin, Acevedo, Montgomery, Coshow, Finley and Degano all either need more seasoning or are in A ball.

German along with others are recovering from major arm injuries so they are also far away.
