Eh....I was hoping Jansen would sign with the Marlins, as I liked dodger prospects better. I will take Stevenson tho for sure.

Still want Martes and Tucker from HOU for Quintana.

Houston isn't dealing Martes, the Dodgers wouldn't bend over for the Sox like the Nationals will.

HOU will deal Martes and Tucker to us for Quintana....I think they were objecting to the inclusion of Musgrove in the trade as well as I think Hahn wanted someone who could be in the rotation this year.

There was a note indicating they expected the deal to get done this week. I assume once we come off including Musgrove in it and substitute him for someone else, HOU will agree.

We are getting Martes and Tucker.

Then Houston came off their reported stance of not dealing Martes then. They were adamant about not dealing him earlier in the off-season as they wanted some depth close to the majors in case of injury or performance issues.

I'll take Severino and Stevenson for Robertson. I think Zack Collins will be eventually at 1st base, so we need a catcher.

Then move Quintana for Martes and Tucker

Then we ****IN

Seeing you say this...make me loathe Reinsdorf even more. Even when he rebuilds the Sox he does it with more passion than with the Bulls.

I'm surprised Reinsdorf agreed to a rebuild since the Sox seem to be the only team he likes to spend money on.

We are both frustrated about the Bulls

The White Sox are his passion, the Bulls are his profits.

The White Sox aren't going to take any deal, it has to be the right deal.

The fact that the Yankees do not have to trade with the White Sox makes me feel all warm and tingly inside.
Want no part of that foolishness. Rape someone else in trade.

It looks like Matt Wieters won't be going back to Baltimore.

Wieters is a strange FA story. He went from needed to be locked up as a franchise piece a few years ago to gambling on his talent and losing to the point where no one wants to pay him.

The Tommy John surgery in 2014 set him back. But you're right, Wieters' stock has plummeted. He's now a middle-of-the-road defensive catcher after being Gold Glove caliber and his stats (.711 OPS, 17 HR, .243 avg) are underwhelming for a guy who the metrics say hits the ball hard frequently.

When he was a prospect, Wieters was supposed to be the Buster Posey of the AL. He never lived up to that rep but he was a top 3-5 catcher, All-Star level catcher at his peak. I think the O's would have locked him up on a $80 million-type deal years ago, but Scott Boras usually takes every one to free agency.

O's dodged a massive bullet with that one. Boras being Boras helped them.

Another head scratcher of a move by Jeff Bridich and the Rockies front office. I wonder what's their fascination with giving multi-year contracts to past their prime relievers like Mike Dunn, Chad Qualls and Jason Motte.

Dunn had a 27.9 ground ball rate in 2016, that's not going to play in Coors Field.

They have to sign FA pitchers somehow, they are not great at developing them at present.

See, the Yankees ****ed up all GM's minds when they dealt away Chapman and Miller. The White Sox though...they ****ed the game up for everybody.

Eh.....not really, Scribe. Ultimately, a GM is either going to or not going to do a deal based on their own risk/benefit analysis and the extent to which they are under pressure to produce results within a short window of time. Not every team is in Washingtons position where they have a 2 year window to win. We weren't holding a gun to their head on the Eaton deal. If he didn't want to take it, he could have said no. I think part of it was they significantly soured on Giolito. I think Cooper can turn him around though.

But at the same time, that deal set up the market for other potential trades.
The Sox now are holding firm on getting great deals for their players.

I dont think in reality they are holding firm on anything. I think they want good value, but we also know the clock is ticking and once the season starts there is risk of injury or underperformance or just the fact that there is lesser time for the guy under contract. It may be that there's a better market at the deadline, but there are those risks in waiting to that point.

I don't expect Chicago to keep raping people, but they should get solid deals. At the end of this, I'd like to see us have a total of 10-11 Top 80 prospects (including our own), or 9-10 plus Severino.
