Won't happen. Hal wants the team to make a ton of money in profit and win.
By 2018 the Yankees will be under the luxury tax threshold and only if Hal thinks the fans will not continue to buy tickets will he give the ok to go over that.

Too many youngsters need time and we need the DH position to be flexible.

I know Rockies fans wanted Matt Holliday to come back to fill their 1B void.

Since Washington has only two years of Bryce Harper remaining, many MLB executives expected the Nationals to make the biggest splash this winter.

Eh, he fills a need but I wish we had left the spot open for the young players.

I think the Yankees want to compete for the postseason and rebuild at the same time. They will never undergo a rebuild in the same manner that you see the Brewers are doing right now.

Tyler Austin is the big loser here?

Matt Holiday did a lot of damage to the opposite field last season so that will go in handy with Yankee Stadium.

They actually do and since they do such a great job at developing players it would not likely hurt them as much as other clubs.

Austin is the big loser unless Bird has issues coming back from the shoulder injury. Gonzalez is really the only hitter to come back at mostly full strength from that injury in the first season.

Aroldis Chapman told ESPN's Marly Rivera he wants a six-year contract. I would be shocked if the Yankees gave him that. I'm not even sure they would go five years, but we'll see.

Though it isnít known exactly where the team stands, the New York Yankees remain focused on bringing back closer Aroldis Chapman, with ex-Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen their primary backup plan.

While Chapman is reportedly looking for a six-year deal, the Yankees wonít go that far; they are, however, prepared to give Chapman a deal in the range of five years and $80 million, which would break the record for relievers just set by Mark Melancon, who received a four-year, $62 million deal from the Giants.

A reliable National League source early this morning at the 2016 Baseball Winter Meetings confirmed that the Washington Nationals are close to a deal with the New York Yankees that would send lefthander Gio Gonzalez to the Bronx. In return the Yankees would send the Nationals two minor league prospects and maybe another player.

The National are also close to finalizing a deal that would bring lefthander Chris Sale to their rotation which allows the flexibility to deal Gonzalez. The Yankees, stocked with minor league prospects, and considered the top system in baseball, have not commented.

Moncada will be more valuable. Maybe even in the short term. Kopech is pretty good too.

My god, why did Chris Sale sign that terrible (for him) contract in 2015? Red Sox get him for cheap for 3 years. Disgusting.

Every time I start to lose my disdain for the Red Sox...they do something that rekindles that fire.
I hate that ****ing franchise so much. The only thing that would make me hate them more is if they grab Otani next off-season.
