That's just nuts. I actually do support the idea of tariffs on many products as a means to protect domestic products and the workers who make them, but 25% isn't a tariff, it's just an attempt to kill imports outright. This will have disastrous effects on the economy, and I'm really starting to think that's the long-term purpose of this treasonous White House.

Still some things to iron out, but Juncker must really love his Jack Daniels, and the DJA loved it enough to go up 150 points.

China will still get their GMO soybeans...through the EU.

Not sure why they would buy our LNG over Russia's though other than to give themselves another option.

The EU is just playing for time, they just have to wait a couple more years for a less retarded president to be voted in, then they can finish the TTIP.

Tariff blowback: Is Trump Country leaving Trump?

Donald Trump arrived in Iowa to locals protesting his trade policies, and recent polling shows that support for the President in some areas that voted for him may be dropping.

Yeah, look what the special elections are indicating..

... But most districts (along with the one state) that have hosted federal special elections since Trump’s inauguration leaned strongly toward Republicans, and most of those races were decided by single digits. In other words, Democratic enthusiasm, Trump’s unpopularity and the normal mean-reversion tendency of midterm election cycles have transformed normally safe Republican seats into nail-biters. ...

My older brother is a Republican and he's a huge day trader, and he can't stop talking about what a moron in chief we have. I asked him if he would vote for him again in 2 more years, or if he would vote some other way. He said he just wouldn't vote at all if Trump was on the GOP ticket, that it's costing him too much money now. He was loving his stocks a year ago, now some of them are tanking hard. I'm guessing they have to be associated with companies which are being affected by these tariffs. I guess that's a real quick way to start pissing off a Republican voter, start messing with their money.

China Slams 25-Percent Tariff On American Cars And Motorcycles

Quote:
"None of this is good for the automakers, who are rapidly becoming more and more globalized and depend on global supply networks to operate profitably," Ed Kim, Vice President of Industry Analysis at AutoPacific, told Motor1.com when these tariffs were initially proposed in April. "Note that General Motors released a statement this morning imploring cooler heads to prevail on both sides. GM already imports two models from China into the U.S. and Ford will soon import the Focus, and both export significant volume from the U.S. to China. Additional trade war bickering could destroy the business models for many vehicles."

Is Trump now gonna send a 12 billion check to the auto makers like he did the farmers? Or perhaps send 12 billion to our Steel manufacturers. Moron In Chief

What happens when you vote for a reality TV pinhead who doesn't know **** about economics...

U.S. firms warn next China tariffs to cost Americans from cradle to grave

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. businesses have a message for the Trump administration: New tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese imports will force Americans to pay more for items they use throughout their daily lives, from cradles to first bicycles and wedding dresses to coffins.

Six days of public hearings on the proposed duties of up to 25 percent started on Monday in Washington as part of President Donald Trump’s and the U.S. Trade Representative’s efforts to pressure Beijing for sweeping changes to its trade and economic policies.

Unlike previous rounds of U.S. tariffs, which sought to shield consumers by targeting Chinese industrial machinery, electronic components and other intermediate goods, thousands of consumer products could be directly hit with higher tariffs by late September.

The $200 billion list targets Chinese seafood, furniture and lighting products, tires, chemicals, plastics, bicycles and car seats for babies. here

Ready for the next round of "winning," Trumptards?

Trade War's Next Salvo to Hit U.S. Shoppers Harder Than Chinese

The trade fight between the world’s two economic titans is about to make dozens of household goods more expensive for U.S. shoppers, but thousands of miles away in China, consumers look set to escape much of the pain.

President Donald Trump is said to be intending to pull the trigger on tariffs targeting $200 billion of Chinese imports once a deadline for public input closes Thursday. Such a move -- his biggest salvo in the fight with China so far -- hits at the heart of the American household, risking price increases for everyday items from refrigerators and freezers to cutlery and towels.

Beijing has vowed to retaliate, but the targets they have selected and the fact China’s imports of U.S.-made goods are dwarfed by what it exports, means the world’s biggest consumer market will be largely shielded from the spat.

A friend of mine who's a contractor and real estate investor told me over the weekend that the tariffs are really starting to hit the prices of construction supplies. Said his costs are spiking, which he'll be passing along to the customer.
