Default "Making the Foreign Serve China"

Mao said that.

A long read that details how China is buying up and infiltrating media and journalism all over the world so it can dominate with its message that Chinese communism is all good, all the time, and democracy is an inherently failed system that nobody should have any faith in. If you haven't noticed, RT is doing the same thing from Russia. They constantly bombard the airwaves around the world with stories of suicide, drug addiction, shootings and every other act of mayhem in the Western Hemisphere and weave that in with the message that democratic government itself is a disease that creates social breakdown.

America is under attack, but of course, we can't respond because the corporations who serve the interests of China (and anybody else with the money to pay) in exchange for getting their greed "serviced" in the global "free" market also happen to own our government. Of course, China itself owns our financial asses as well. We are losing the war. In fact, we're getting our asses kicked and we're not even putting up a whimper. Like Trump himself pointed out - hey, give me $50 million and we're buddies. That's all it takes.

Such blatant exhibitions of power indicate the new mood of assertiveness. In information warfare – as in so much else – Deng Xiaoping’s famous maxim of “hide your strength and bide your time” is over. As the world’s second-largest economy, China has decided it needs discourse power commensurate with its new global stature. Last week, a group of the US’s most distinguished China experts released a startling report expressing concern over China’s more aggressive projections of power. Many of the experts have spent decades promoting engagement with China, yet they conclude: “The ambition of Chinese activity in terms of the breadth, depth of investment of financial resources, and intensity requires far greater scrutiny than it has been getting.”

As Beijing and its proxies extend their reach, they are harnessing market forces to silence the competition. Discourse power is, it seems, a zero-sum game for China, and voices that are critical of Beijing are co-opted or silenced, left without a platform or drowned out in the sea of positive messaging created by Beijing’s own “borrowed” and “bought” boats. As the west’s media giants flounder, China’s own media imperialism is on the rise, and the ultimate battle may not be for the means of news production, but for journalism itself.

Last night, my wife and I watched, Mission Impossible: Fallout. It was produced by Ali Baba, a Chinese propaganda company mentioned in the above article. Hollywood is becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of China. The movies you see are being dictated by China.

The Chinese are like the Koch Brothers on steroids. Not only are they infiltrating media all over the world and spreading their propaganda through every social network, they are actually buying up companies, media centers, and the transmission technologies themselves (fiber optic networks, etc.) so that the can dominate the message and the transmission of the message. It's like what Rockefeller did back in the day with Standard Oil; Own everything - the resource, the real estate, the equipment, the employees, the means of transport and the market itself.
