Not really, if he's not drafted, it will be a monster media storm and he'll make millions off all the public appearances and could probably even get a book published. He'll instantly be one of the main faces of gay rights. Trust me, he'll bank off that gig.

Last Tuesday, Michael Sam Sr. was at a Denny’s near his home outside Dallas to celebrate his birthday when his son sent him a text message.

Dad, I’m gay, he wrote.

The party stopped cold. “I couldn’t eat no more, so I went to Applebee’s to have drinks,” Sam Sr. said. “I don’t want my grandkids raised in that kind of environment.

“I’m old-school,” he added. “I’m a man and a woman type of guy.” As evidence, he pointed out that he had taken an older son to Mexico to lose his virginity.

On Sunday night, just after Michael Sam announced his intention to make sports history, his father was still struggling with the news.

Sam Sr. loves his son, and he said he hoped his son made it to the N.F.L. “As a black man, we have so many hurdles to cross,” he said. “This is just one he has to cross.”

But he expressed discomfort at the very idea of a gay N.F.L. player, even if the player was his son. He grumbled that Deacon Jones, the Hall of Fame defensive end renowned for his toughness, “is turning over in his grave.”

I love how people think they know anything and everything about a person they never even met. How the hell does the father know Deacon Jones didn't know somebody gay and didn't have a problem with it. Hell, Deacon might have even been a closet gay for all we know. I hate when people talk like that and think they have it all figured out. Shut the F up you ignorant father, lol, haha.

Came for the lulz, and this thread delivered! Keep it going!

Just as long as he's not a lustful cockmonster, I'm ok with it.

If gayness prevents a father and son from bonding over a cheap Tijuana hooker, well that's just wrong.

So let me get this straight (no pun intended) ...he's slow off the line and plays stiff and upright even though he's only 6-1. He's known for being ridden around the pocket by pass blockers who use good technique in College. Lacks any real variety of pass rush moves besides his edge rush and his power drive through the offensive tackle's inside shoulder. He's a straight-line athlete with limited flexibility and agility that hinders his ability to change directions fast and explode back underneath the pass blocker.

look, I'm afraid my grandkids won't be able to grow up in an environment full of convicts where they lose their virginity to hookers on dad sponsored trips and end their days drunk at applebees. deacon jones is rolling over in his grave at this travesty.

lol. Sounds like granddad is operating a very traditional American family. I mean, that's what we all do, right?

Tombstone, check this out:
. . .
January 6, 2014 (Seattle) - Newly elected Seattle mayor Ed Murray (left)
takes the oath of office, as husband Michael Shiosaki (center) looks on.

This is Kshama Sawant, newly elected to Seattle City Council.
Born and raised in India, and a member of the SOCIALIST party,
Sawant promises to be relentless in her quest to bring a $15
minimum wage to the City of Seattle.

Me, I'm as liberal as a Massachusetts lesbian, but at $9.62 an hour, Washington has the highest minimum wage in the country now. If we pump it up like that, let's do it a dollar a year ... ease into it.

Tombstone, you'd love this town. If it weren't for their football team it'd be the best. You consider retiring here
I would love to move to the Northwest.

Yeah, Sam's father sounds like a real winner when it comes to raising children.

That pisses me off so much. I'll admit I don't have all that much background info on it, and my impression of it is simply a bunch of slack-jawed fast food workers thinking they deserve more, but damn talk about a bad joke. And then a freaking socialist gets elected on that platform alone. /vomit. Not from Seattle proper but eesh it makes me shudder sometimes.

You beat a woman and drag her down a flight of stairs, pulling her hair out by the roots? You’re the fourth guy taken in the NFL draft. You kill people while driving drunk? That guy’s welcome. Players caught in hotel rooms with illegal drugs and prostitutes? We know they’re welcome. Players accused of rape and pay the woman to go away? You lie to police, trying to cover up a murder? We’re comfortable with that.

You love another man? Well, now you’ve gone too far!......
