I can't believe I am going to quote LABF but he actually put this very well.

You can't support freedom by compulsory standing. I stand because I get it, but if other people don't want to stand, it's their freedom to decide. It's okay to disagree.

This really is going to be the worst NFL season ever. Every week it'll be who's standing or kneeling or locking arms or raising fists meanwhile Trump will be running his mouth. I'm over here just wanting to watch football. That's it.

Derek Wolfe...one of my favorite players...but man, he should stand up to himself.

Here is what I heard: Yeah, yeah, I stand for the flag and America. And it's totally cool others don't because this is America. But it's disrespectful if you don't stand, so you should. But in America you have a right to protest, I guess. But why don't you leave if you don't like it?

He really needs to stand behind a cogent point of view.

I refuse to stand for the anthem or pledge, and I served in the military overseas. According to Wolfe, I should leave the country? I mean, I get he STANDS UP every time that song plays and all, and that means he did more than I did in serving his country, but didn't I do something? Don't I have a right to protest? I don't know, I guess we all protest everything nowadays (like the treatment of black men at the hands of our justice/law enforcement system).

I just hate politics in football, there is plenty everywhere else. It's going to continue to cost players as ratings fall.

Wolfe is willfully refusing to understand the perspective of people he disagrees with and misrepresenting it so he can express his disagreement (the people who are being honest about this need to just flat out say, I don't to see opinions I don't support being expressed). But he isn't more or less entitled to speak his mind than any other player. He's just a bit more hypocritical about it.

Exactly

I have no problem with people having their own opinion, even if it is a dumb one. That's what this country is about. But you shouldn't be disrespectful about it. And kneeling during our anthem is disrespectful. Period. It's a middle finger to the flag.

Side note, do they know why they are kneeling? What are they upset about again?

Good job Wolfe.

It's not about cops anymore.

It's about who's standing and who's kneeling.

Productive protest.

Is there a kind of protesting done anymore that isn't wholly self-indulgent? There are people homeless, injured, without power and still reeling from loved ones being killed due to massive natural disasters that has devastated all races, genders and age groups. And these ****ing a-holes and the media are jerking off about this bull****.

Amen to that! Trump is just a mad dog that does things for attention good/bad. While he's getting all the attention his little ego craves from the simple people that really believes he means what he says, the real politicians in charge are getting their laws and bills passed.

I guess it really doesn't matter in the long run because no matter what happens if something goes wrong they will jus blame Obama.

Exactly! They don't even know. It started out as one thing and once they were proven wrong they kept it going

I don't care either way. Stand or sit, that should not define a person's patriotism or lack thereof. You want to kneel? Kneel. You wanna stand, stand. Just realize that freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences.

It's totally self-serving and counter-productive. Several players have lost sponsors because of it. That's money that could have been used to work towards solving the issues.

It's completely self-serving. They're taking something that is supposed to be about one thing (the flag, the fans, whatever) and deciding they want it to be about them.

Public moral outrage is self-serving.

new research suggests that professing such third-party concernówhat social scientists refer to as "moral outrage"óis often a function of self-interest, wielded to assuage feelings of personal culpability for societal harms or reinforce (to the self and others) one's own status as a Very Good Person.
I would submit it is also used for good ole attention whoring.

The same thing they've been protesting the entire time, racial inequality. Remember when it seemed like every month an unarmed black man was getting shot by a cop? That has not changed. What's it accomplishing? A lot considering everyone is talking about it and as long as people are talking about it racial inequality is at the forefront.

Self serving would be thinking that money is more important than your own convictions.

Every article i read mentions nothing about racial inequality. Every article is about who's kneeling. Not one word about black men being shot. They are now kneeling because of Trumps speech.

I used to care when I saw cops abusing authority. I don't care anymore.

And its tone deaf to be preached at by multi-millionaires about inequality. I think that is part of the problem.

Don't mistake my cynicism for this bull**** as a slam on the real issues minorities go through.

This gesture isn't helping solve problems in real ways. It divides more than it unites, and it's an exercise in self promotion.

Useless time wasting that you can file alongside picketing, calls for boycots (Trump does this), and the most useless of them all, petitions - especially of the internet variety.
