i walked my dog this morning, and my neighborhood is starting to look like a ghost town, half the home owners have covered their windows with plywood sheets and ran out of town.

You're supposed to get 8-10 feet storm surge.

Dude...if you are on a coastal area, you need to pull that ass out of the fray. It's just smart. Take a trip to Raleigh or something.

Consider the people who are going to have to rescue should the worst happen, then pack your dog and head inland. Good luck.

to be honest after living through Hurricane Hugo when i was younger , most storms dont scare me that much, that was the last storm that ever scared me. i remember being so scared i left my bed to lay on the floor and i could actually feel the floor shake and even shift a bit,, and besides as a first responder we've been told no rescuing until after the storm.. have no worries only dumb asses would stay on the beach, its mandatory evac there. its always best to stay inland..

Same here.

Watching updates nervously.

Sounds like the potential for flooding, mudslides, etc., still exists even in the Western parts of NC.

Stay safe, everybody!

Yep.

I have people in the paths of both Florence and Olivia in Hawaii right now as we speak.

Nervous days.

Ugh. We've only just got into Hurricane season and it's been a quiet one at that.

This is stressing me out a little bit. I just know this a-hole is going to roll SW down the coast and somehow find a way to surprisingly crush Jacksonville on a second landfall or some other nonsense.

I'm still repairing the house and working on better drainage from last year's hurricane damage. If I can just get through this year without another big hit, I'll be able to get everything done before next hurricane season, but until Mid November this year, I'm going to stay extremely nervous. 10" of rain over a short time and my house is flooded again.

It would have been cancelled for me, as it turns out. The family members we were going with just got a call that their flights were all cancelled.
