By TFY Draft Preview
Date: Mar 9, 2005
Today is a big date on the Pro Day schedule as NFL scouts are on site in Oklahoma, Nebraska, Florida and Ohio State to workout several top prospects who will land in the draft's first day. Throughout tonight we will keep premium subscribers updated as information trickles in.
Early reports have Dan Cody, who did not run at the combine, turning in both his 40's in the 4.68 range.
Receiver Mark Bradley improved on his combine time running a 4.32, though some watches had him under a 4.30. Bradley also posted a 39-inch vertical jump.
Defensive tackle Michael McGruder also saw improvement from his Indianapolis performance running his forties in times of 4.85/4.87 with a 35-inch vertical jump.
Safety Brodney Pool ran in the 4.50 range with a 39-inch vertical jump.
Outside linebacker/defensive end Jonathan Jackson ran his forties in times of 4.48/4.50 at close to 250-pounds.
Antonio Perkins did not complete his runs do to a hamstring injury.
Safety Josh Bullocks, who quietly had one of the better overall combines, was times at a 4.46 and 4.52 in Lincoln, an improvement from Indianapolis. Bullokcs was the most popular player amongst scouts. Afterwards several teams including the Chiefs and Texans had him do individual drills. For their part the Dallas Cowboys are thrilled with Bullocks and feel he could immediately produce for the squad.
Linebacker Barret Ruud was timed in 4.74/4.77
Defensive end Bernard Thomas posted a pair of forties in 4.87/4.88 with 10 and 20 splits of 1.61/1.67 and 2.84/2.88 respectively.
Receiver/defensive back Willie Amos scorched to a 4.29 forty and then worked out at both positions afterwards.
Early unconfirmed reports from those in Gainesville have running back Ciatrick Fason barely breaking 4.70 this morning. While Fason claimed to have run a 4.46 no scouts had him faster then a 4.60 on their stop watch. To his defense it was less then stellar conditions as the forty was run on a wet with with 50-degree temperature. Fason weighed in at 209 pounds, two more then his combine reading. He did not look especially sharp in pass catching drills and dropped a few. After the workout Fason had lunch with the Packers. The Bengals and Patriots also seem very interested in the former Gator back.
On the other hand Channing Crowder weighed in at 245-pounds, almost seven less then his combine total. Crowder ran a 4.7 in the forty and posted a and 10 foot broad jump. The Patriots scouted Crowder hard and the feeling in Gainesville is the Super Bowl champs really want him and will select him if he's available at 32.
NFL teams and coaches represented included Jim Bates- defensive coordinator for Green Bay, Rick Spielman of the Dolphins, Winston Moss, linebacker coach for New Orleans, Mike Pope- tight ends coach for the Giants, Kennedy Pola- running backs coach for the Jaguars, Ricky Hunley- linebacker coach for the Bengals as well as the Chargers, Redskins, Patriots, Cowboys, Panthers, Titans, Cardinals, Bills, Steelers, Colts and 49ers.

Though no definitive measurements, linebacker David Bergeron has been impressive this morning. Some numbers on Bergeron include a 4.60 forty and 34.5 inch vertical jump.
The complete story on the Ohio State workout can be found here. As an addition to this story we have learned that running back Lydell Ross ran a 4.68 and 4.72 in the forty. Ross has been struggling with a knee injury and did not take part in any other drills for fear of further hurting the joint. He hopes to workout again towards the end of the month.
Jon Linder of Badger Nation is reporting the following vertical jumps bench presses from today's Wisconsin workout:
Mike Lorenz, 31 inches, 23 reps
Jonathan Clinkscale, 31 inches, 25 reps
Kalvin Barrett 29 inches, 29 reps
Darius Jones, 30 inches, 20 reps
Darrin Charles, 36 inches
Morgan Davis, 31 inches, 21 reps
Anttaj Hawthorne 30 1/2 inches, 24 reps
Jason Jefferson 31 inches, 19 reps
Interesting is the name of Darius Jones, who worked out for scouts today. Jones, you may remember, was an undersized pass rusher who left the team prior to the season.
The Gophers pro-day took place on Monday. Marion Barber III ran well, posting times in the 4.50 range. Some had the big ball carrier as low as 4.48.
Cornerback Ukee Dozier clocked a 4.53/4.55 which eased the fears about his speed. Dozier also posted a 38-inch vertical jump.
Safety Justin Fraley clocked a 4.60.
