I just setup my new computer...and I have two computers in my toolbar...one says I"m signed into msn and the other has this message when I run my cursor over it...and a big red X in the middle of it..."Local Area Connection A network cable is unplugged."

What does that mean

What does that mean

When mine did this, it was a problem with my ISP. Actually, I was drawing to much bandwidth and it was knocking me offline. My cable modem would go off for a couple hours, and then I'd be back for 5 minutes. It was nerveracking. At first I thought it was my nic card, but it turned out to be a power splitter in the attic. Eventually I just had a secure line ran and now no more problems. I have my own line for my I'net and my tv so all is good.

So now I have these questions for you.
1) How is your nic card?
2) Do you have a Cable Broadband connection?
3) Do you have your tv cable, and broadband cables going through a power splitter?
If not, I dunno.

I know nothing about computers...never had this problem.

1. I don't know what that is.
2. No. It's dial up
