Default Holiday lights and such

Anyone decorate their houses with exterior lights and such? Last year was the first year I ever did it, but this year I did even more.

Mostly it's just a way of amusing myself since this is my first XMAS without my dad. He loved the lights last year (I lived with my dad). So, when I saw a 12 1/2 foot tall inflatable snowman for sale I just had to have it.

And since I live on a main road, the responses have been fantastic.

Anyone have any pictures of their handywork? Sideburn, if you can, get a picture up of the stuff you told me about in your PM.

Right on, Pats! That looks great! We decorate a lot too. I was tickled to death to find candy canes at Costco this year and they line my whole path. I love all the decorations at Christmas. Our kids have been begging for one of those big snowmen or Santa Claus.
My husband told me if I brought home anything else that was for outside that I was grounded from shopping. Bah humbug! So of course I ran out and bought more icicle lights for the shed.

My Dad used to come in behind us kids and rearrange all the Christmas decorations. I guess that comes with having an engineer for a father.

After he passed on, our 80-year-old grandmother lived with us and she would come in after we finished decorating the tree and always comment "My...isn't that gay!" It wasn't quite the adjective we were hoping for.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm always amazed that the word "gay" has meant something completely different "back in the day" than how we use it today.
