They offered the Genie as well, but I believe it came w/another 2-year commitment. I'm not planning on changing providers, but w/the NFL's exclusive deal w/DirecTV ending this year, I'd hate to be locked in and have them lose the Sunday Ticket.

Probably still going to call back one more time to see if I can get the previously offered deal + any kind of discount on the Ticket.
My monthly payments will be even less when I'm paying 4 payments of $36.99, as my credits will equal $40 off for those 4 months, so my bill will actually be less. I figured I'd pony up the $150 for the Sunday Ticket Max package, as long as I'm saving a total of $525 off my bills in upcoming credits.

Far more stunning than the potential loss of the NFL Sunday Ticket package by DirecTV could be its new landing spot.

Two things, is your contract up or did you get it for free last year?

My system has always been that I call up around this time of year just to ask when my contract is going to expire and when they see that it is and they ask me about re-upping I just say I have to think on that.

Then I call back a few days later and usually I find that is the easiest way to get past the first operator (the one that is supposed to get you to hang up the quickest). The real secret is to get their name in the beginning then in the middle of the conversation to ask the question again like "I'm sorry, it's Betty right? I just didn't want to be using the wrong name here." Then you go into the I have options of Dish, cable, and the one that really seemed to sting them, cutting it off altogether.

I know this all sounds like BS but I learned this from a guy who literally talked his way so far up the chain (a VP) with Dell that they sent him a brand new 2000 dollar laptop just because the battery in his no longer held a 100 percent charge.

Using his methods I have only paid for NFL Sunday ticket once but I got them to subtract the cost from my monthly expenses so I pretty much still didn't drop a dime on it.

Interesting. I am sure Google could find a way to sell 1 game at a time. I hope it happens.

That article is a year old and with AT&T looking to buy Direct TV I'm sure the conversation has gotten a lot more interesting.

From what I understan AT&T did by DTV. I called about plan options and they have it on the opening greeting.

Nope, I've gotten it free the last 3 years in addition to other discounts. Something has changed, they are much tougher this year. I got it for half....$120 but that was after like 4 phone calls and 3-4 hours on the phone.

Not even going to try this year. Whatever games aren't on prime time etc I'll try to find a bar or something to go to.

That would be jumping the gun I think. The deal has not been approved by the FCC or whoever approves those things.

Renewed in June and got NFL Sunday Ticket for free. It's a one yr renewal and the representative said call back next yr to get the deal again.

Just told them I'm planning to go to Comcast because they are offering a good deal. Had no intention to go to Comcast for cable. I do have internet with them.

Love it when this thread gets bumped! We're getting closer. Time to call DTV and do the dance! lol

Last year they gave me the package for free and cut me a check for $32,000.

I can't believe that no one has brought a class-action suit against the NFL for giving DirecTv exclusivity on the Ticket. Every other major sport has their season package offered on multiple services, yet the cash whore NFL, who never met a dollar they didn't love, doesn't want to expand their package viewership and rake in even more money hand-over-fist? Never understood how the NFL gets away with this.

I can't believe they are making you pay for the top tier to get the red zone channel.

Getting it for free, even when still under contract, is still possible. It took 3 calls, but the Comcast angle seemed to touch a nerve with the rep in the cancellation department I spoke with.

If you had DTV then yes. You could not get it without a DTV account.

What ever, $200 is still steep. With Payton on our team most of the games last year were televised. Game Pass worked for the rest. Pass.
