I didn't catch that either. That's awesome.

Anyone have an extra $20K laying around?

http://www.wired.com/2014/06/george-martin-benefit/

The horrifying deaths on Game of Thrones have provoked a lot of feelings in fans of the medieval fantasy series: anger, sadness, grief… jealousy?
If you’ve ever stared at the severed heads and mutilated bodies of the Westerosi dead and thought “hey, I wish that were me,” then you’re in luck! In order to raise funds for two charities, The Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary and the Food Depot of Santa Fe, Song of Ice and Fire series author George R. R. Martin has come up with a rather creative crowdfunding prize: Two lucky Game of Thrones fans with $20,000 will actually get a character in a future Game of Thrones novel named after them—a character that will, naturally, die a horrible death. As the description for the “Martyr” pledge level explains:
There is one male character and one female character available. You can choose your character’s station in the world (lordling, knight, peasant, whore, lady, maester, septon, anything) and you will certainly meet a grisly death!

Ok then.... Sounds like sci fi fans.

Thought tonight's episode was kinda bland. Not the pace I am used to with several stories competing at once. This one was all about the Wall.

I agree... the 9th episodes have always been the wtf moments of Game of Thrones. This one was blah. Big fight scene with lots of special effects that had very little impact in the end.

I finally finished watching "The Red Wedding". I'm depressed now. Can't wait to download this season. I hear the good guys make a bit of a come back even though Tyrion lost the trial by combat.

P.S. Does Tyrion live?

I liked this episode. You can't always have WTF moments. Unless you count someone getting whacked with an arrow by a kid.

Agreed. It was a big battle that had been brewing for a while. No major deaths, unless you count ol red, but a good episode. This season had 2 big, shocking deaths, they just didn't come in that 9th episode that we are used to.

Tyrion is alive as of the end of the 5th book. Hopefully it stays that way.

The end of the trial by combat surprised me more than anything else in the series. Even more than the Red Wedding and Ned's beheading. The signs are there for the Red Wedding if you're paying attention even if it does seem a little unbelievable.

There is still one episode left. Muahahahaahahahahahahahahahahah coughcough hhahahahah.

BTW, why anyone who hasn't read the books would risk this thread is beyond me.

I've never read the books, but have managed to dodge major spoilers on this thread. I can tell after a couple words whether that sentence is going to reveal any big spoilers or not. I hope there is a big bang to end the season next week, typically the finales have been pretty quiet.

I'm tempted to ask who. It won't be Tyrion. Cersei would be my guess.

Why, that little kid saved his life. Ygritte was going to kill him, in spite of his cunnilingus skills (which lets face it, is the only reason she was hesitating in the first place)
