I don't disagree. drafting a RB in the 1st wouldn't hurt our O, but I think it's a bad use of resources to select a player who doesn't fit the base scheme (as currently constructed) in the 1st round. I think Shazier is like a pre-injury Thomas Davis. Very good weakside LB. But Denver already has a very good one for a few years on the cheap. plenty of good players to fill bigger needs in the 1st imo. Good enough to pass on a fast will LB with questionable instincts.

None of them could hold a candle to the Lenonator.

What downs are you going to pull him on? Would you pull David from the field at any point other then to rest if you coached the Bucs?

well Woodyard was replaced by Lenon so although I think your intention was to be facetious, the Broncos probably somewhat agree with your statement.

Passing on Shazier because of we have DT is like passing on David because we had WW. David is an All-pro and WW is with the Titans.

If I'm drafting Shazier, I'm going to rotate snaps between he and Trevethan at MLB and WLB. Ideally Shazier plays the Weakside, his game is speed and chasing plays down.

I've already said I have no problem replacing Trevethan with Shazier at WLB. I'm higher on Tripp to play MLB at the next level then Shazier.

There's so little that we have access to, to make an assumption like that on Tripp. You must see something you really like, from the combine?

I've seen Tripp live about 6 times. I've also seen many other players go pro from the Montana Grizzlies or their opponents. Tripp can start in this league. Also a good friend of mine played two years with the Grizz and came in the same freshman class as Tripp... He told me the first week of practice Tripp was one of the best players on the team.

I want us to draft Tripp from a football level and would LOVE if we draft him from a personal level. Did that sound gay?

With that being said, if Shazier is there.... you just cannot pass on an athlete like that who had the production that he did.

Shazier and Tripp.

You and another poster have more inside to him. I liked what I saw at the combine, but I have so little to go off of. And I'm not gonna lie and act like I have this special film on him or know any insider info.

I like Shazier, just not as our MLB. And if he plays all subpackage downs, roughly 60% and rotates in on other downs, I would be fine with that. His impact in coverage would be great.

If Tripp is good, just draft him at #63. He won't last until the bottom of the 3rd. At #31, pick the best CB available. The rest of the draft go BPA. Sounds like a stress free solution to me.

He seems like the type of player you could coach up to become a solid starter, maybe more.

Well he certainly doesn't look like a stud against Coastal Carolina... that was a rough game all-around.

That's what I noticed. Looks like he gets juked out of his socks multiple times. He took some pretty bad angles in the open field.

Does not take block on well at all. Plays all over the field though, always a plus.
