I like Blood Bowl too combines football and Fantasy :-)

Recently i supported some projects on Spiele-Offenive.de which cooperates sometimes with kickstarter too.
Is Blood Bowl 2 or 3 or more players ?

Anyone ever played Resistance?

http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/41114/the-resistance

That's a great game if you have 6 or more. Goes really quickly and is awesome to play with people you are close with or people you don't know at all.

I also have to include the Advanced Tracks to Telluride. It doesn't quite meet your time restraints. It lasts about 6 hours, but it's way more fun! It does away with the chance cards and has new rules for the snow ploughs, dual gauge track, track maintenance and seasonal weather variations. It also has more ways to win. Lots more flavor and some new special engineers and lawyers to help out. Lots more court injunctions and financing. That good stuff.

The ticket to ride iPhone app is a pretty good time waster. As is Catan Rivals.

Anyone that enjoys Puerto Rico should play Glory to Rome...it's a great game, but a pain in the ass to find...

Dominion is good, Carcassonne is very good, there is a game called "Seasons" that I like a lot as well, it has the same basic mechanics as 7 Wonders, but is more fun to me...

For those that like Risk, Smallworld is a great game that will only take 30-60 minutes to play once folks know the game.

Last night we played with the Pandemic on the Brink expansion and King of Tokyo for the first time. Really enjoyed King of Tokyo. My only gripe is the player elimination element meant players who were killed early were left looking in waiting for the game to end.

Pandemic on the Brink we didn't use the bio-terrorist mechanic but used the virulent strain and mutation cards and of course all the new roles. It was quite fun and the mix and match element added a more randomized element to the game which makes it less predictable.

It was good night.

I remember playing a game called Yacht Race as a kid. I didn't know how to sail but my older brother did but a I always kicked his butt in the game. Given he is 6 years older than I am this was always tremendously satisfying.

I haven't seen it anywhere for years.

David Wooderson, what is your favorite game? You should add to the Dice Tower network on You Tube. You'd probably have a lot to contribute.

If I remember right, I think the players were Pittsburgh and Dallas, as they were the Super Bowl teams. I turned it on and the players vibrated around like they were all having seizures. There was literally nothing fun about it. I think I played with it for about 30 minutes and then realized it was not going to get any better and that was that for that stupid game.

I was young and I thought it was broken so I brought it back and got a new one. It sucked too. Well I'll never get that birthday back.

Scrabble is mostly about memorizing the 2 and 3 letter words, then shutting the board down if you don't get the good letters.

I grew up on scrabble, my aunt was a serious player and won a lot of tournies. It's funny when i play people and shut the board down they get all bummed out. The don't realize there is a strategy to scrabble. It's not about throwing down the longest word for the most points.

Then outside of scrabble my family played a lot of cribbage. Anyone know how to play cribbage?

Chess is probably the best board game ever but it can take forever to play a game.

Chess isn't. It's kind of Broken. You can do some things to alter it, like randomize the back row, etc. but most Chess masters agree as a game it's dated and lacks variance. The openings are all memorized and once the center is controlled Black either concedes early or turtles for a stalemate. Objectively speaking, it's not that awesome.

Once again, just because a game is old and famous doesn't mean it is actually good.
