Kayvon really turned my head, that's for sure. I think he was a great pick and far better than I credited them for after the draft.
Yeah Kayvon will be solid for us

Elway has said (specifically I remember with the Webster pick) that he not only looks for best talent now, but talent that can be developed even if it takes a little time.

I take this to mean that some of the BPA players that might have been there (the guys WE wanted) were overlooked for more project type guys.

Yeah, I agree with this. Ball has been averaging over 5 yards per carry. Trevathan had the best LB year since Al Wilson, and is definitely playing at a Pro Bowl level.

Webster is cast aside by far too many fans on this forum. He is a rookie and still learning.
He will be fine.
Ball and Danny T are too low as many others have said.
But you cannot properly rate a class before 3-4 years because of the developmental curve for each player and the potential for someone to have bad years and then turn it on or have good years and then drop off.

This. There's no way to judge the 2013 class so early. If you were to judge Julius Thomas based on his first two years, you'd think he was hurt too much

Actually most just wanted him cut and Elway flogged for "wasting" a pick.

This is such a great quote. John is the GOAT di tutti GOAT.

Webster is going to turn into a stud. He played a ton as a rookie in the NFL from a college that didn't play to his strength or develop him as a corner. He is learning a lot and can be as good as he wants to be.

This

Danny T leads the team in tackles and has become a defensive leader. Ball is a tweener between 3 and 4 based in the last quarter of the season and playoffs.

Was reading a statistic somewhere Broncos have the most home grown players starting or on the roster since 2011... some stat like that. I migt have botched it.

Okay, reading through this thread it became evident that I really needed to further clarify what exactly I was implying with my ranking system. I was not trying to evaluate a player's talent or potential. Nor was I attempting to devalue players based on their playing time. There where players I gave a *** rating to who have been incredible for us in their role, but their role remained that of a backup or role player, hence the rating. I am simply rating each draft player based on the production we have receive from them since the draft with an emphasis on the production we got during the 2013 season. To further clarify:

***** Meant that the player was a starter and typically playing at a probowl level.

**** Meant that the player had developed into a starter and was playing solid enough for us that he would not need to further improve for us to not prioritize filling his position via free agency or another draft. This covers a wide range of performance from guys starting and doing just enough all the way to guys starting and being borderline probowl players. And honestly, these guys are the lifeblood of a championship team. You need your superstars, but it seems every championship team was able to grab two or three of these kind of players per draft in a three year period and built a solid cost-controlled base around them. Unfortunately, these guys also tend to be the first to leave via free-agency when their pricetag outstrips their production.

*** Not meant as a knock on the player. Only meant to indicate that at this point their role is that of a back-up or rotation player. Currently Malik Jackson, Sylvester Williams, and Montee Ball are dominating in this role and will likely get promotions in the near future. But, for this season, this is their role.

** This was meant to cover players whose current production level could probably bee easily (though not necessarily cheaply) replaced. Not meant as prediction for the future of the player or a measure of their talent, Kayvon Webster could still develop into a stud. Simply that thus far based on this year alone, their production level would either need to improve, or be replaced.

* Finally, this ranking was almost supposed to mean incomplete. I used it for players who had, for whatever reason, not seen enough playing time to get any other grade. It was not meant as a knock against Osweiler, or Dysert, or any other of our long term development guys. Simply an indication that there was not enough playing time or production from these guys to give them any other grade.
