Hey, I'm happy I over-reacted and was proven wrong. I'm man enough to admit that Fox made the right call.

John Fox is who we thought he is.
Don't worry dude, the Seahawks are playing now so you can go watch your favorite team.

The funny part of your EPIC FAIL was not only that we got 3 points that forced a 2 score point difference late in the game but that he had the balls and went for it on 4th down to convert to run the clock out.

Didn't see this thread posted earlier, but you take the 3. That was the right call.

You always take the points especially in the playoffs. If the Pats had kicked that FG instead of Brady getting sacked by Knighton, the game may have turned out different.

That was the right playcall too. You do not take a chance with a FG in that situation when you already have a 2 score lead.

Here is what I think:

He keeps up the charade so that when it does come time for it to matter, and we do need to go for it, the other team isn't ready.

Hope so anyway.

Hated that bull****. They were playing the averages but just do what works. Hemorrhaging yards and points to kill some clock seems so stupid to me when you give up the mental advantage of dominating them all game.

No way. The Broncos offense was nearly unstoppable, the Patriots knew this and being down multiple scores, the Patriots knew that FGs we're not going to catch the Broncos, so they pretty much had no choice but to go for a first down.

If executed properly, the opposing team will be unable to stop the clock by stepping out of bounds, as you force them to throw it inside the hash marks and they can't score a quick strike because you keep them from going over the top on you.

you let them dink and dunk their way to a score while they also run more time off the clock.

As for the mental advantage....when your opponent is throwing on damn near every play, they know, as does everyone else that the probability of them winning is slim.

I watched the game with my Dad and step-mom, neither of whom know much about the game. It's a lot of fun telling them what the play will be, what the penalty is before it's called, describing what the Prevent Defense is, etc. They thought I was some kind of football genius. .

Well it would be ok if it actually killed clock. They drove down in an instant

16 point deficit. Patriots killed nearly 4 minutes getting that TD. In that situation, the clock was Denver's friend, not New England's.
