I asked this earlier and no one answered it.

If you are Daniel Diaper Snyder, would you sign Shanahan to an extension? Is he your coach?

or

You own a football team, would you sign Shanahan?

Steve Young wasn't considered a HOF QB then, IMO. And the argument can be made that they are HOFer's because they worked woth Shanahan...so I think the point is moot.

Skins fans are split.

1/3 want Snyder gone.

1/3 want Shanahan gone.

1/6 don't care.

1/6 are waiting for their Ratbirds fan applications to be approved.

The guy who said Tebow was better than Cam Newton and would revolutionize the game, that Shanahan would win a Super Bowl in D.C., and that Jay Cutler was going to be a championship caliber QB is making IQ judgments on other people. Good stuff.

I fire him after the season...so no extension.

Depends on the team. Texans seem like a perfect fit for him.

I gotta hope there's some middle ground on where people stand on Shanny. He's the greatest coach in Broncos history, hands down (I hope in two seasons Fox can enter the discussion but a lot of things have to go right between now and then for that to happen). His achievements as the Broncos head coach should be untarnished. But the team did sink into mediocrity his final years here. He's done nothing in Washington to make you think that was more an aberration than a trend.

At the time they were hired, coaches like Red Miller, Dan Reeves, and Mike Shanahan were what the doctor ordered and all three led the Broncos to some of the most exciting seasons ever and 6 SB appearances between 1977-1998. By the same token at the time they were fired they deserved to be fired.....

Mike is unanimously considered our greatest HC due to the back to back titles won. But it's not 1997-98 anymore.

Mike Shanahan coached the Broncos for 14 seasons averaging 9.8 wins per season....... His Broncos finished top 10 in scoring 10 times and 7 times in points allowed

Mike Shanahan went 138-86-0 as Broncos head coach (.619) and went 8-5 in the post season with 3 AFCCG appearances and 2 conference titles and 2 SB titles.....as Redskins head coach he is 24-37 (.393) and is 0-1 in the post season....as the Raiders head coach he went 8-12 (.400)

Overall he is 170-135-0 (.557) and 8-6 (.571) in post season with 3 AFCCG appearances, 3 AFC titles and 2 SB titles.

However, since his last Broncos playoff season (2005) his teams have gone a combined 48-62 including playoffs (.436%)

Without Elway he is 124-125-0 (.498%) including post season......so yeah he's a bit over rated now and deserves to be jobless.

Yeah...I think everybody appreciates what Mike did here. He worked here a long, long time.

I do thank some are attached to a distant past relative to the coach he is today.

I don't think the Texans will hire him. I think if he does get another gig, it will be some place that will be diffcult to succeed at as well.

I feel like I need to say this again (don't ask me why haha):

I have no beef with shanahan the offensive head coach. He's the same as john fox the defensive head coach.

HOWEVER, I absolutely do not like shanahan the personnel evaluator/GM, especially when it comes to defense.

As for egos, most in this business have it. You could say "mastermind" or "genius" got to shanahan's head, to his own detriment really...

That right there. You can't say anything if you make that statement. Just hide in the corner and be seen and not heard.
Just nonsense.

Shannyham is making one last desperation move to get his name in the limelight before Dan Snyder gives him his walking papers.

How ironic: Shanny leaves in RGIII against Seattle last year instead of benching him in favor of Cousins. The Skins would have lost anyway, but this this dumbass move sealed their fate.

Fast forward to this disastrous season. With nothing on the line but Shanny's tarnished reputation, the Mastermind benches RGIII for Cousins when the season is already in the toilet.

Shannyham is and will always be his own worst enemy. You da man, Shanny! You do man!

Hey Rev....Do you think Shanny will finish his career in DC with a better win percentage than McD did in Denver?

If I were Snyder there is no way I would sign him to an extension.

If I owned a team that had an established star at QB and Shanahan's only responsibility was coaching, and my GM and front office had final say on all personnel decisions than yes. I would hire Shanahan. However, if I owned a team with no star QB there is no way in hell I would hire Shanahan as anything more than Assistant Coach/Offensive Coordinator

If the Skins lose out he will have had a .375 winning percentage

McDaniels had a winning percentage of .393

Ouch

I don't think it would work. There is a lot of talent on the roster, but they have no QB, and I don't think he could handle working underneath Rick Smith when he used to outrank Smith in Denver.

Doesn't matter, because McDaniels left the Broncos with talent and some real NFL coaches. He also left them all their draft picks and some.

Shanahan will leave Washington a garbage roster and a ****ty coaching staff that will most likely be cleared.

Not to mention losing their 1st round pick which is currently the 2nd pick in the draft.

These same people who LOVE Shanahan, absolutely LOATHE McDaniels won't admit that to you though.

Hated Shannyham after 1998, hated Josh "Stalin" McDaniels from day 1. But I would re-hire Stalin as Director of Scouting in a heartbeat.

McDumb-dumb made some pretty good draft picks. And he never, ever drafted anyone named "Sir Mawn Wilson", either.
