Our FS's were playing like $3it sunday and I'd give it a 95% chance Den would have just driven down and kicked a game winner.

It's the NFL - anything can happen - but with more than a minute and a half left Manning would have gotten Den into FG range...

Most years (even division winning KC teams) there's a Broncos home win by 20 or more pts. The Chiefs are very rarely competitive in Denver.

I think we are what we are: a very competitive team that's improved a lot.

Better than Denver?

No.

A playoff winner?

Probably not...
You lost by only seven because:

* Denver handed you the ball in two unforced turnovers
* and uncharacteristically blew KR coverage badly.
* You were playing the 2nd string Denver defense.

The PF on Ramierez cost us the ablility to kick a FG and put the game multiple scores out of reach and would have started GB time in the eyes of many football fans.

KC lost by 7 because of:

* SEVEN dropped passes by WR's.
* A poorly thrown pass (behind the WR) on 4th down that Den made the play on.
* Our best player on D was out.

Excuses are excuses. What happened happened.

I guess some can't even be gracious in a win...

Passing and catching well are part of the game bub. That your team, even the starters can't do that well (consistently) just means you are a terrible passing team.

And QQ about missing ONE player. Compared to the hospital ward that is the Denver bench that's nothing.

At full strength, Denver beats KFC at home by 14+. Even with the existing **** ups.

Serious question, Rausch -- in the 4th quarter, after we were up by 14 points, do you believe the Broncos were actively trying to score more points? 'Cause it sure looked to me like they were content to coast on a nice lead and run out the clock. I also believe that Manning and the Broncos "could have" run up the score (in the 4th quarter of both games) had that been their primary goal.

And as noted in another thread, I'd also question the wisdom of Reid choosing to expend half of the last quarter of the game on a single scoring drive when he needed 2 touchdowns to tie the score.

Ihr voller Scheisse

We had our 2 best CB's out and were relying on a rookie CB from about the 1st quarter on. We were missing Wolfe and Vickerson on the DL and I saw Paris Lenon in for Woody at least once, Moore is on IR. So we had multiple starters out on D at multiple levels and still managed to win on the road with a stop on D.

There is no realistic scenario in which they don't make the playoffs. They have at least a 3 game lead with 4 to play over everyone.

Remember any other teams with a division lead, 4 games to go that couldn't win one of the final 3 to seal the deal?

Yes, so do I.

Whatever we dropped three passes at least.
Poorly thrown pass, no it wasn't. It was right on target before

Woody stepped in front of it.

Mistakes on both sides and we beat the hell up on defense and still

you lost at home.................done deal

I kinda wish they would just keep scoring cause everytime they start coasting and running the clock they let the opponent back in the game

Go to some of the Queefs boards at let us know how gracious Queef fans are. Some of the most vile and disgusting things they're saying over there makes Raider fans look like saints.

Agreed -- it kinda made sense in a way with the Chefs this year though. There was no reason to pile on and humiliate them when we were gonna face them again in their house just 2 Sundays later and could possibly see them a third time in the playoffs.

My point to Rausch, though, was that the 2 games weren't really as close as the scoreboard might suggest. It may be of some comfort to Chefs fans to say "we only lost by 7" but the fact is, it could easily have been far more. They had no answer for the Decker/Cooper mismatch and Manning could have exploited that even more than he did -- if running up the score had been the intention rather than running out the clock.

I can. Although I don't agree with all your comments you are not trolling and I apologize for others jumping down your throat. I think there is a hangover here from too much kc trolling, so people are quick to react.

Hope you continue to visit the Mane to give us a kc view that is not venomous or patently ridiculous.

I actually did for the first time ever. I decided to check out their game thread to get their take. OMG...seriously, some incredibly entertaining reading mixed in with some of the most disturbing comments ever printed on a sports message board ("I hope Denver's plane crashes going home" etc...).

I know our chat room is hyperbolic and over reactive on each and every play but they take it to a whole new level. If you have some time to kill and are seeking some entertainment...give it a look

There are some seriously funny (and disturbed) posters at ChefsPlanet. I actually lurk (and occasionally post) there pretty regularly.

You shouldn't realistically expect such things after your team's fanbase clogged this board with garbage, kindergarten-level trolling attempts two weeks ago and the main culprits lurked around all week leading up to Sunday's game.

Man, I hope you're saying this, just for the reaction.

There is no such thing as "gracious" when it comes to the Chiefs and the Broncos. You guys hate the Broncos as much as we hate the Chiefs (in fairness, our hatred is much more justified than yours). I always try to act nice on the rare occasion I post at ChefsPlanet. Yet, most of my cordiality is met by vitriol - most of it as a matter of some misguided principle.

As for the recent Chefs-Broncos games, I think you're being a little bit of a homer. I don't really see either of those games as being all that close. Sure, you can go back to each of them, and come up with a bunch of "if only" scenarios. But at the end of the day, I think you're reaching, a bit. Those two games really illustrated how far apart the two teams are.

True, there is no proof that the Chiefs would have won even if they scored a TD on that last play. They showed no sign of stopping Manning. He would have scored in regulation, or continued his domination of the Chiefs in overtime.

And as for Injuries, please, Denver has way more. And you can argue that Ryan Clady and Julius Thomas and our best cover corner Rodgers-Cromartie are just as bad of an impact to the team as Tamba Hali and Justin Houston.
