Alex Smith can't exploit the Denver secondary. I love how you guys all look at stats vs consider all the factors which is huge leads and injuries.

with a practice squad QB? I think not.

The rankings are based partly on strength of opponent but we have played virtually the same type of schedule as the Chiefs. I don't think we have it any easier in the 2nd half.

It's not surprising that the chiefs aren't getting any respect on this board, but most objective analysis would say that they were an above average d with an average Offence that can run the ball and control the clock fairly well. We're an elite offence with a below average defence (although most here would make excuses for our poor defence as if other teams in the league weren't facing very similar injury and other concerns).

Seems to me that the Denver v Kansas City games should be reasonable football.

Right now, they don't know who it will be.

Reasonable, rational, logical posts like this will lead to anger, ridicule, and even ignore status. Take it from someone who knows first hand! Consider yourself warned.

That said, I think our defense will prove to be better than average now that we're healthier and have Von back. And that we'll prove to be better than KC.

Frankly, I was surprised at what a difference the presence of Woodyard made. It was like night and day.

You're on a rival teams board. What do you expect? Virtual beers and BBQ?

I can't understand why people even make effort to make profiles on other team websites. I've never gone to a chief site and dropped a turd.

I guess if a circle jerk is what you're looking for, then keeping other teams' fans out makes perfect sense.

As for me, I'm out. Later on, gentlemen.

That gets thrown out the window when the majority posters of another teams fan base are trolls. The legit posters get mistakenly thrown in with them. I've only seen 2 quality chiefs posters. One is ROY and the other passed away.

To be honest sometimes the football talk here gets stagnant and it helps to post somewhere else and talk to people with a different point of view. Instead of how to fix these posts they are this is why we will whoop your arse.

I understand posting on universal sites. Like ESPN fox NFL etc. but actually going to a one team only page and posting hundreds or thousands of times is odd. Like I'm sure KCStud has more posts on this site than an actual chiefs site.

Thanks baja, She's like a Timex, takes a licking and keeps on ticking. They gave her 18 to 19 months in 2002, we took it hard. We turned it over to God and haven't looked back.

Sure we have some troubled times facing us soon with her health finally failing, but God has prepared us for 11+ years. I have plenty of health issues and I try not to complain or show it knowing what she is going through.

We are blessed.

Check it out:

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvo...8-dvoa-ratings
-------------------------------------

Denver remains on top of this week's Football Outsiders DVOA ratings, and the Broncos still rank as one of the top ten teams in DVOA history despite a bit of a decline in recent weeks. Seattle remains in second place, although the Seahawks' overall rating drops after last night's narrow win over St. Louis. Indianapolis is third, with Carolina a surprising fourth and Cincinnati climbing from 11th to fifth thanks to their 49-9 drubbing of the New York Jets. Chicago climbs two spots to sixth, even on a bye week, although DVOA of course doesn't take into account the effect of injuries (or McCowns) on a team's future peformance. Close behind the Bears are three other NFC contenders, the Saints, 49ers, and Packers, and...

Wait a minute. Where the hell are the 8-0 Kansas City Chiefs?

The shocking answer is tenth place. The Chiefs drop six spots this week from fourth to tenth. Although many power rankings around the Internet will still have Kansas City in first place because they are slaves to ranking teams by win-loss record, it's pretty obvious that the Chiefs are not the best team in the league right now.

The biggest issue is schedule strength. We've pointed this out a few times this year, but the Chiefs' schedule has been phenomenally easy. The Chiefs have played only one opponent this year with an above-average DVOA, the Dallas Cowboys. If we take out the opponent adjustments and look at non-adjusted VOA, the Chiefs actually rank third in the league; the difference between the two ratings is more than 10 percentage points. Each week, as the opponent adjustments in our system become stronger and stronger, the Chiefs see their DVOA rating fall a little bit more. It doesn't help that the Chiefs have been declining a bit, with their three worst games by DVOA coming in the last three weeks. The game against Cleveland comes out as their worst of the year by DVOA, another reason for their big drop this week. In fact, DVOA has Cleveland outplaying the Chiefs this week even if we remove the opponent adjustments. The Browns gained 6.5 yards per play compared to just 4.7 yards per play for Kansas City, but were hurt by third-down efficiency (just 3-for-12) and the fact that they lost their one fumble while the Chiefs recovered theirs. Without opponent adjustments, that comes out to 19.5% DVOA for the Browns and -4.6% DVOA for the Chiefs. With opponent adjustments, it comes out to 28.1% DVOA for the Browns and -23.1% DVOA for the Chiefs.

(By the way, the Chiefs aren't the only team with huge opponent adjustments this season. Denver and San Diego have also had extremely easy schedules this season. Denver's gap between DVOA and VOA is almost as big as Kansas City's, but because the Broncos have been so good, the opponent adjustments don't knock them out of first place in our ratings.)

A couple weeks ago, we looked at where Kansas City stood among the "worst" 6-0 teams of all-time. At that point, the Chiefs weren't particularly low. However, only 13 teams since 1989 have made it to 8-0, and out of those teams, the Chiefs come out near the bottom. (Yes, the one team that ranks below them ended up winning the Super Bowl, but remember that team got its best defensive player back from injury right before the playoffs.)

Well said. Both teams have a tougher 2nd half schedule, and still have something to prove to a degree. After all neither KC or Denver has won a game against a team with a winning record all season.

I'd also argue the West is significantly stronger than any pundit claimed or pretended to know before the season. There is a high likelihood that SD will also make the playoffs- or come up extremely close to making it, and even Oakland should flirt around the .500 level. They have played close even in losses like, for example, taking Indy down to less than the final 2 minutes before the Colts were able to fend off a go-ahead score by the Raiders for the victory.
The point being is that division teams play at the least 87.5% of the same teams as the rest of their division rivals. The strength of the West this year and all facing common opponents has skewed some of the teams faced that are quality wins and will end up with better overall records when all 16 regular season games have been played. Obviously I'm not talking about Jacksonville as an example.
People are too quick to formulate snap judgments that rely upon last year's play and performance, even though year after year for quite some time there is at least a 50% turnover in new teams that make the playoffs from the following year. Turnaround is very rapid in the NFL these days- both going up and going down.
Before the season you would assume the super bowl winning Baltimore Ravens would be a tougher matchup then playing the Buffalo Bills. I know I would have. Except those 2 teams have actually played one another and the Bills beat them. Point being is numbers don't ever tell the whole story, and opinions are often biased by preconceived notions that rooted in limited familiarity and a lack of all the facts.

Yes, the Broncos sometime have difficulty stopping the pass. And if you went that deep, you'd be right. But our problem isn't stopping dink and dunk, it's giving up the big play deep. If Alex Smith could push the ball downfield you'd have a point.

But I'm sure you'll go right back to herp derp.
