Can the mods see how many "active" posters there are? It might help with # crunching to come up with a good monthly or yearly fee.

A membership fee would be a good way to get rid of spammers...but how many people would pay for a membership to a message board?

Pay BB go down nearly instantly. Old people die and new ones have no reason to pay for a free thing.

We're not going to become a pay site. I'm examining different options. There are a couple of other networks that I'm looking at. The open question right now, however, is whether we run into the same issue with them.

Pony Boy seems to be making money hand over fist, why don't we let him support the site and he'll just take it as another write off.

Plus if we get shut down where will the writers from the Post go to get their stuff?

That's cool, man. $***, it's your website that I use for free on a daily basis. Of course, I respect your decision.

Dude, it is going to take a monumental effort to clean this site and satisfy Googles unrealistic expectations. They will just find another way to cut ads, this is their MO. They know there about 100,000 more sites joining adsense so they don't care.

The problem is, they have the huge majority and the other revenue sites pale in comparison to revenue. Let us help fund this community we all belong to and utilize daily. Heck you don't have to even create a set fee, just throw up a monthly server campaign and let people donate what they feel is fair.

I bet the community can help without it being mandatory. Heck if enough funds are generated that are in excess of the fees then have a contest for some Broncos swag, the only members eligible are those who contributed.

I am sorry you have to deal with this bull****.

I agree that member funding is not sustainable in the long run, but in the meantime, while you are looking at new options and trying to get the site cleaned up, you might as well set something up for donations.

I've never posted hot girl pics.. I don't get why Google would want this. Crazy how they can dictate what is on your site. Freaking commjes :-)

Google is going to do what is best for Google. This is what private sector regulation looks like, and frankly, I'd rather have it coming from Google than the FCC. At least this way I can examine alternatives - which I am.

That's why a voluntary fund raiser is the way to go. Because a few, and way more than 20, would gladly pay to read and laugh at your dumb ass.

This clearly isn't going to work -- think of all the posters who used to be active, but have stopped visiting the site for various reasons. Atlas, for example, must have posted THOUSANDS of racy pics during his time here, but has been AWOL for quite a while now. Who's going to scrub all of his photos? Also, there are deceased posters (Crazyhorse and Watermock, to name two) who won't be able to clean up their post history.

Which means that logically TJ only has two options:

1) Manually delete ALL photos ever posted to the Orange Mane;

or

2) Say "**** You" to Google, and figure out a different way to recoup operating costs.

That last image of the Bronco cheerleader bending over was (for a fraction of a second) broadcast on an FCC regulated network. I just think that's worth pointing out...that's all.

Sounds like Goggle is just trying to force you off their rolls. Just charge people 20 bucks a year or whatever it is. You should have to jump through all these hoops.
