Default Health insurance for self employed???

I'm self employed but I've been on my wifes insurance but now that my divorce is about to finally go through, I'll need to get my own. I've made a few preliminary calls and it seems like the self employed person gets raked over the coals vs the person working for a large company. Such BS.

Any advice on what type of plan would be good for me? I'm a healthy male 44, no real problems healthwise. Anybody know a good company that I could call to get a good deal on a good plan? Any advice is helpful. Thanks.
