I don't think people are used to the Broncos being in games that they could theoretically lose. Yesterday I knew that even if the Jags got a ton of breaks we'd still win by ten I even posted exactly that in a thread Med called it. This is a game where it could go down to the wire or they could even handle us. They have exposed two of the top teams in the NFC. But by the same token, they also almost lost to the Raiders.

For the first time since the season began, we are looking at a game we could lose and lose because the other team has good football players, not because we didn't get out of bed in the morning.

So if we win next week, does that mean awesome things? And if we lose, does that just mean we got our curse out of the way?

And lets not forget that they lost Wilfork for the year. And yet they still went out and slowed down one of the league's best offenses.

I don't know, but somehow I believe that this has something to do with Babe Ruth.

I'm really interested to see what his state of mind will be like this game. Motivated for sure, but how much the pregame hype gets him out of sync will be interesting. The Colts have said they will have a big tribute to him before the game, so it would be hard for him to not be a little off-kilter emotionally in the first half or so.
it's not just you, he's a control freak, and he frays a bit when things don't go as planned...the Colts game, this lettdown game, this is all a good thing, the more adversity for this team in the regular season, the better...the last thing we need is to go all 98 Vikings.

I'll admit, I'm a bit worried about this game. I'm thankful that we completely overlooked the Jags, played sloppily and still won. I hope that doesn't carry over to the next game.

If the franchise is cursed to lose it's seventh game after starting 6-0, perhaps then it should be considered auspicious that four of the previous five times the Broncos went 6-0 they went to the Super Bowl. The only time they didn't go to the Super Bowl after amassing that record they missed the playoffs entirely.

Yep, they had 2 possessions in the last 2:46 and couldn't close the deal.

Prediction:

If the Broncos lose on Sun, which is entirely possible, the Mane will be the most annoying place on the internet.

Peyton is going to ignore all the INDY stuff before the game. It would take him out of his normal routine and that is something he just doesn't do. Actually he is a bit obsessive compulsive that way. I assume that he'll tell
Indy to FO before the game, and stop asking.

Tonights game may give us an indication of how Indy handles
the game next week. SD has been able to put up points on almost
everyone so we'll see if Indys Defense is all that, or a reflection of
who they have played. Their best win was against SF but that team is
Bi polar. Jax had Gabbert and no Blackmon. They did put up 34 against Seattle, which indicates they can score against good defenses. Miami held them to 20 though, as did Oakland.

Defensively they get about 3 sacks and two T.O. a game. Similar to us.
They have better pass stats on d and we have better Run stats. They do try to balance run and pass on O.

Ball security is going to be a key. We must not give them short fields on TOs.

This may turn into another shootout like Dallas, but the key will be getting a 2TD lead. And then somehow HOLDING it.

The refs seem to be letting a LOT of pretty blatant holding go on. Maybe its the leagues way of ensuring that a good pass rush is negated, so as to make sure the Favorite teams ( NE ) don't lose too many games. Or to eliminate Von Millers effect for the Denver D.

So far they have been pretty even so I assume this is another attempt to up the scoring and take away another thing the Defenses can do. It sucks.

This is a potent curse. I predict if we somehow manage to beat the curse and come away with a win that we will be 7-0.

I updated the initial post to include 1997 (I had totally blocked that one out of my memory. As I went back and reviewed that season, it all came flooding back).

We definitely need something to break this! Before we lost by winning by 16 points this weekend, I was confident Manning had the power to overcome it. But then that abortion of a game happened on Sunday. Now, I'm not so sure.

Anyone know of any proven ways to remove a curse?

I found this on the Interwebs!

Unfortunately, we have city water. And there is no way I can get to Indianapolis to bury this thing, before the weekend.

"Take thirteen nails of different sizes. Put them in a bottle filled with well water. Write the names of your enemies on small pieces of paper, and put them in the bottle. Bury the bottle upside down at the gate of one of your enemies, and the curse will be lifted."

Don't know of any, but if you find one, don't waste it on a small time curse like 6-0. Save it for 13-3.
