Moments later, this video landed in my inbox. It's Tarr talking to San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt. Tarr asks Whisenhunt for his thoughts on the Texas job, and Whisenhunt makes it clear to him he's interested:

This is one of those jackasses that finds himself noble for reasons I can't quite understand. He thinks he's "uncovering" something, but really he's just a jaded "creative" that hates the system because it won't accept his "genius." So, in his feeble mind, he's gonna bring the industry to its knees, fully unaware that he's just begging to be apart of it. He just wants his 15 minutes of fame, and i assume that's all he'll get.

Yeah. He's probably also lazy. Didn't want to put in the work. "I'm hilarious, I shouldn't have to go through these hoops when there are less talented people ahead just because they can get their boss coffee every day." Quits bitterly and does crap like this.

What a douche.

I can't believe these LOSERS are actually INTERESTED in talking to someone about furthering their careers! Whoa! He's TOTALLY GETTING THEM!

I mean, if someone calls you, and says that they might have an opportunity for you, in your field, for more money, and more prestige - and they do it by specifically referencing success you've had at your current job - and they're representing themselves as just doing preliminary work - so, it's not like you're talking about specific offers, or anything - well, you should TOTALLY tell them to pound sand!

There are repercussions for turds like this. It may just be in the form of bad karma. But I fully believe things have a way of coming around on you, one way or another.

Well, I guess I should have been more clear. He's obviously a douche, on a Kanye West sort of level. I guess that's where I'm coming from in finding it funny. Not that he is screwing with peoples lives, but in that what he thinks what he's doing is awesome and worthy of praise. Anyone catch Kanye on Kimmel? I am not sure how Kimmel kept a straight face when Kanye called himself a creative genius.

I'm all for a good prank, but ****ing with someone's career and livelihood is a bull**** move, front to back, absolutely every time.

If I was one of the "targets," I would look into at least scaring him with the treat of a lawsuit. I'm not sure how something like that would work, or if there would be a case. But at the very least, they are probably in a better position to spend a little money for a retainer, than he is to pay for a defense. I'm guessing if he has enough time on his hands to sit around, doing this kind of stuff, he probably doesn't have a lot of disposable income. For him, coming up with even the $5K, or so, it would take to fight a lawsuit might just be back breaking.

And there are damages. At the very least, these guys unfairly look foolish. At the worst, their reputations are irreparably damaged, in their current positions/cities. Unfortunately, the story isn't going to be reported, with all the details. What most people will hear is, "Mark Jackson is looking to dump Golden State for the Lakers," or, "Ken Whisenhunt wants out at San Diego!"

And as Le-lo Lang's offspring mentioned earlier, there is no possible Robin Hood-ish justification this imbecile can come up with to justify what he's doing. The one he mentioned is so illogical, it's embarrassing.

You mean where he says he targets good coaches to "get them thinking about becoming a head coach" ... inspiring confidence or some BS.

I think what bothers me most about it is the way he presents it, like he's accomplished something.

He told some lies nobody would ever have a reason to tell and then started slapping himself on the back for being clever when some people believed them.

Dude is an ass, but what I did find funny were the responses like this:

"His name sounds like a derogatory slur of some kind. I'm going to call someone a Ken Tarr on the street and see if I get punched."

followed by:
Yes. Do it and report back.

I also enjoyed these responses:
He's a 32-year-old college dropout who has the maturity of 13-year-old middle school twat who gets his rocks off by prank calling old widows. To date, Tarr's greatest prank has been to get Deadspin to post an article about his assholish immaturity.

and
As someone who's name is Ken, this idiot besmirches my good name. Think I'll sue his ass based on those grounds.

and
Tarr stated he got the idea when he checked back with Office Depot to see if he got the job and the manager couldn't stop laughing.

Dude, I think you are backtracking because everyone thinks this guy is a complete douche. I love a good prank but he is possibly ruining Whisenhunt's career at San Diego by having him say he is ready to leave his current job. If this guy has you on the fence of being a complete A-hole, here is part of the Deadspin piece....

Quote:
Tarr said his hoaxes are a way of exposing the "bull****" and "arrogance" that's built into the sports and entertainment industries, both in what it takes for creative types to get ahead and in how it's all packaged and sold to the public.

He tells me: "I like that these teams are so arrogant that they set up these press conferences where reporters have to ask these polite questions just so the teams can feed them bull**** by saying whatever they want that's going to make the team look good. I can have my own press conference on my couch."

At another point, he launches into a soliloquy, sounding like another stymied creative trying to find himself in Los Angeles: "For my whole life, you've been told that if you're a creative person or you're good at writing or you're good at creating things, there's a certain way you've got to go about getting ahead. You've got to send your work to publishing companies, you've got to send them in to agencies. You've got to send in an envelope—I don't like doing that. These are all things that I don't think—I think that they're just there as a way of policing and getting creative people to basically fall in line.
Does he realize that these press conferences are set up so many reporters and tv stations can get answers at once or does this douchebag think Tom Brady should meet one on one with every single reporter after a game? Also, reporters can ask any question to the player or coach. We hear what comes out of their mouth and can pull out the BS detector when things don't sound right.

Wouldn't it be sweet to **** with this "Ken Tarr" and have Deadspin offer him a possible job and to come to their office (or fly out if they are not near LA) only to have security escort him back to his Ford Granada for lying about a job interview?

What does he do for a living? I read the article, but didn't notice if he was employed. This guy has way too much time on his hands. Why this numbskull doesn't turn his time & energy into something productive is beyond me.

I have been in sales all my adult life, and I can tell you that the hardest part of the job is picking up the phone and calling a complete stranger, and asking for thier time. People in outside sales know what I am talking about.

If this guy had any brains, he would be making $500,000 or more a year selling a product or service, or as a headhunter, or something.
